Today i received my macbook air with os x mavericks. I have a usb 2.0 500gb wd elements. Its formatted in ntfs.

The problem is, its not getting mounted and displayed on desktop. I check it in perferences and there its showing up the hdd, but whenever i am clicking "mount", its shows a message that its unable to mount the drive, and run tests on hdd. The "test" tab is non clickable. What to do now?

Ntfs won't work natively in Mac.. You need some third party software like paragon ntfs for Mac or similar ones.

You can also use fuse to manually mount volumes, similar to how it's done in Linux.

Easiest is using the third party software.

Will try paragon. Btw, is there any app which can enable transfering large files of like a single file of 10gb to usb hdd's in ntfs?
