Unable to open sites on AIRTEL

Well guys my parents and bro are facing this problem on my connection at home (Airtel).

They are unable to open any sites everytime they connect to the internet, however they can ping IP addresses.

So I told them to change their DNS servers, however sites still wont load. Even the default AIRTEL dns servers are pinging.

The engineer came with his modem, and even he was unable to resolve the issue, and left saying that a format was the only issue.

So I was wondering whether you guys have any suggestions on how to fix this ?

A solution would be much appreciated.

Before formatting, try either (1) automatically obtain DNS address (2) opendns.com. I used to have an intermittent problem with accessing certain websites and I used to switch between auto and Airtel's DNS.
 
Ok try this... in the address bar instead of typing google.com, put in 64.233.187.99 or 216.109.112.135 (IP of Yahoo). If the sites open up, then it is a DNS related problem, else its something else.

Yep, that is the problem precisely! But everytime the connection is reconnected, the IP range is still 122.*

Is there any way to fix this ? I cant understand a thing in the link you mention. :S
 
Cant open IT-Depot on Airtel... Its not the DNS server as I have tried changing that, but when I VPN to my company I can open it using my Airtel connection.
 
Well amaresh i had talked to airtel guys .. there 59.x.x.x pool is full and so is there 203.x.x.x i had mailed to Delhi - NOC bout the problem, letz see what happens. But you can call them up and request them to bind u to a certain range .. see if that helps :)

Ah hey, thanks for the help. Yeah, I have told my bro to threaten them to change the ip range, else its bye bye airtel and hello TATA :P
