Unable to send and receive national SMS with BSNL prepaid

Hardly a week with my new BSNL prepaid SIM, and already I'm "experiencing" BSNL. An odd problem though. I'm unable to send national SMSes. I just get a message on my San Francisco that "Message cannot be sent". Local SMSes are not a problem. I've already checked the SMS centre number, and it is fine. I do have sufficient balance, and have even tried a SMS booster pack, but to no avail. If someone can suggest any solution, I'll try it out before resorting to going to the BSNL CSC. :O

P.S: I've already tried with the same SIM on another mobile too; same result.

So, only one option left go to Bsnl CSC.

i know this is stupid suggestion still , have you tried the numbers in different format like 09449012345 or +919449012345 or 9449012345

WTH.. I'll give it a try.. It's not really stupid. Anything can happen with BSNL.

just use 0 in place +91.

both mtnl and bsnl hate +91.

That does not solve the problem. Still getting "Message not sent" error. BTW, I'm not able to receive SMS from out of circle numbers too.

^Then CSC is the best way... i guess you've taken 2 prepaid numbers recently both having same problem?

Nopes. Only one. I've already lodged a complaint with the CSC. They've assured that it would be resolved in 48 hrs. I'm just hoping it would.

^not to dampen your hopes but i had similar issues with bsnl about messaging and also had late delivery of msgs by even 12 hrs..

called up and even went to local bsnl office,but problem kept cropping up..

ended up porting my number..!!!

Was facing a similar problem, but with all outgoing messages. Incoming was fine though. I changed my message center number from +919442099997 to +919442199997. Took the number from message details of an incoming message. And messages are actually working much better now.
