Unable to update any antivirus software

Hi,

I m unable to update any antivirus software in my friends PC. I've installed Avast, AVG, Antivir, but no one is updating. Internet is working fine in this PC. This problem is bugging me very much. All the antivirus softwares are working fine, only problem is they are not updating.

We need more details to be able to help you. Was the system previously infected with some viruses? What error message do you get, if any? Is there any firewall installed in the system?
 
"Unable to connect to Server" in AVG. Didn't remember the errors in Avast & Antivir.

hp-india , no, this system never got infected with virus. And no firewall is installed in the system.
 
Have you tried manual update? And, it might be a genuine case of server problems for the AV sites. Try posting in the AVG support forums too.
 
^^ Manual update means? R u talking abt downloading the updates & then copy & pasting it in that AV software. I downloaded the updates for AVG but didn't knew where it stores its definitions files. Anybody know this?

But the main problem is no antivirus updates :(

hammerhead , I don't use any proxies to connect to net.
 
It's a virus/malware. I had the same problem a few weeks back. Found the solution by simple googling. :P Google "combofix". That's the program that cleaned my PC up. It found a trojan (sys32 or win32, or something like that. :D). Be sure to download the correct file though, apparently there's a lot of virus files masquerading as combofix.

EDIT: Yes, it's freeware. :D
 
@saqib_khan: Next time use multi-quote rather than multiple consecutive posts.

Coming to the issue at hand, download and run hijackthis and analyse the log file at the hijackthis.de site or post it here. I still feel it has to be some undetected virus or malware.
