I have Toshiba m900 and using windows 7.
Drive reads Cds and Dvds quite well... but today i tried writing a dvd, and dvd went unrecognized in the software (i used magic iso).
i used other softwares also.. again same problem..they were giving error as "no disk in"

i tried power iso it gave me error "power caliberation area error"

what to do??

please help.. :(

Let's try this. Open My Computer and right click your DVD burner (make sure it's the burner, NOT your DVD-ROM drive), and select Properties. Select the Recording tab. If there is a recording tab, make sure CD recording is enabled for your drive. Then try burning some files onto a blank CD-R. This will not work for blank DVDs. I just want to see if the drive is recognized as a recording device by Windows..

Dude,

use a lens cleaner....( does not apply to slot-loading machines)

try updating firmware...

these days drives go dead ... if not used

use ur drives regularly

now today i hav noticed one more thing

Cds are burning fine with windows 7 utility and toshiba utility..
but not with magic iso or nera

Dvds still not writable...showing "power caliberation area error"

plz install another dvd burining s/w and check the same, also use test tools from nero.Else your drive is going to dye.Dont worry the spare DVD rw is commonly available in India.
