Unlock 5800XM screen without slider

Hello all,

My Nokia 5800XM seems to have locked the screen and is not unlocking despite my best efforts. Even when I reboot by removing/inserting battery, the phone boots up with screen locked. The phone also does not give any chance for inputing the unlock code. There is no difference in screen when I slide the unlock button on side. I have not been able to determine the reason for this as well as how to solve this problem. Please let me know if someone has faced similar problem what are the possible soultions.

Did you happen to drop the phone ?

the slider switch function is lost. AFAIK, each time the slider is used to lock-unlock the phone its a mechanism which works. That is what is not working / is broken. Last year similar thing happened to me when the slider has no effect. Luckily for me, all i had to to do is pry open the front panel and just reset the slider back into its position and shut the panel. If your phone is still in warranty its best to approach the officials.
 
Hey thanks TechMind. The issue was software related, as after a few attempts my phone even stopped booting. I did a hard reset and it is working fine now. Thanks for your suggestions.
