Planning to use my bro's phone while i'm looking for a new one. He's come down from the US and i'll have to unlock it to get it working here. A issues to get sorted out before doing so.

1) Where can i get it done in chennai? Richee st.? Where exactly?

2) Once its unlocked, can he use his old t-mobile sim card once he goes back? Or is there some detection mechanism that wont let him use it?
 
1) Im not very sure where in ritchie, but where ever it maybe dont ever lose sight of the phone. I have seen some T-Mobile branded fones in a few shops. You could try asking there as they are most likely to be unlocked and the guy will know how to do it.

I would still suggest doing it at home. Lots of software are available on the net and the max that you might have to purchase is a cable, if it doesnt unlock with the codes.

2) T-Mobile cant detect that you have unlocked your phone. Its not possible for them to do that.
