Nokia Unveils 5500 Sport Smartphone
Nokia today announced a new sport-centric handset in the form of the 5500 Sport smartphone.Its a smartphone which features all the technology that every active-minded consumer needs, and is specially designed to withstand the daily rigours of work and work-out and with its sleek, sporty design it has an athletic lifestyle appeal.
For extra durability,the durable Nokia 5500 Sport features an ergonomic stainless steel casing ,which is also complemented by splash and dust resistant shell and rubber grips.Nokia 5500 Sport is engineered with materials used in the latest high performance running shoes which make it look good on and off the court.The handset is also the smallest smartphone from Nokia to date, though it also has a smaller but it is equiped with a square display which has a 208x208 pixel resolution.The phone also features an integrated pedometer which monitors your distance traveled and calories burnt and the phone also caters microSD cards of up to 1GB capacity.
The handset features three modes which are accessible through a single button on the handset
Phone Mode-to stay in touch
Music Mode -to unwind or power-up
Sport Mode -to help you break a sweat
Even though out of the three modes Phone & Music mode wont excite many but it will be the Sport mode

Phone Mode:
Along side all the normal functionality U would find in a mobile the Nokia 5500 Sport also offers "text-to-speech" technology which helps to read you the status of your workout or incoming messages while partaking in physical activity.
Music Mode:
When music is on your mind, the Nokia 5500 Sport gives you a jump start. Supporting a multitude of different digital music formats and memory cards of up to 1GB (microSD), the Nokia 5500 Sport can hold approximately 750 songs.
Sports Mode:
When Nokia 5500 Sport is switched into the sports mode, it helps you keep to track of ur work or ur work-outs.The integrated pedometer feature serves to monitor distance walked or calories burnt -during a busy day in the city or that breathtaking cardio session.

The triband Nokia 5500 Sport(GSM 900/1800/1900MHz) is scheduled to sprint into stores during the 3rd quarter of 2006 and will retail for around 300EUR0 (about US$380).
