Hello,

I have one suggestion,

TE already has one Price Guide linked - Home Page - TechEnclave Price Guide but it's not updated since ages :(

Instead of asking about Wanted to buy a rig, prices etc, why can't we have our own Price Guide? so TE members can find the approx price of the stuff that they want to buy.. Who will update it? Off course some members living around market areas can contribute into it.. The result, we'll have our own Price Guide..

There will be no need of having third party sites to refer the prices then :)

It's just a suggestion guys.. Think on it. :hap2:

We can ask our dealers for the prices & a volunteer can be appointed to update the same. Shouldnt be big task.

Hmm, nice to see your views on this.. Some more +1's can bring my suggestion to practical work :)

maybe members can post prices to te guide directly and mods can approve if 3-4 members post the similar price points.

Yep, we had thought of resurrecting it, but the interest level to do so was lacking in members.

Good to have positive replies, can wait for Staff member replies.. :)

I think you didnt understand. The interest level of watching it in action is not the concern here. The concern is who will make that happen. Who will get the price list and who will update it. Who is willing to volunteer and go the long mile without burning out.

hmm, there are lots of members here who visits the market also there are dealers who know the pricelist..it'll make easy to get idea of budget for your config.

Mods can appoint some reputed person or two as a Price Guide Moderator or simply PC Moderator.

I dont think you got what Renegade wanted to say there. What he means is, if we are to appoint certain members to be the people who update the lists, how do we guarantee that the people in question can indeed go ahead and keep updating the same after finding out the prices from the various locations. And if they do, then for how long?

Keep it open for all to update. Prices to be seen by others only when a Mod approves the update.

1nce in 2 weeks frequency also be Ok.

Guys, this is a good suggestion.

I think it would be best if it was open to all members for updation.

It would include the name of the component, details in a popup or something (if possible) current price, last updated and the name of the member who updated it. This would ensure transparency as well age of the prices.

Or alternatively, we could add trusted members to the group who can update the prices. To start with we could directly add the people who had provided reliable prices in the past.

This should be seriously pondered cause the sticky pricelists are months old and people just keep on commenting on it and adding new prices which makes finding a particular item very hard.

Or we could just integrate a wiki with the forums.. Each product type would have a separate page that would be editable by any member of the TE forums. A detailed history of edits would also be available in this case. If editing needs to be restricted, then users satisfying the requirements could be allotted to a separate user group and only this user group be allowed editing permissions for the wiki..

OR...

mods can add web links of reg dealers on that page n let the members check the prices themeselves...

its not practical to have 'one' price guide since prices differe place to place.... i guess thats y most people use price update threads specific to their region...

one price guide sounds neat bt its hard to maintain considering the fluctuations in the prices.

either add reg dealer web links to make it worth a link on home page or dump the section all together.....just my opinion.

^ Prices are different everywhere, We'll select some major markets like Lamington, Neharu Place etc, prices are just +/- 200 bucks. Having one place for all pricing will result, less posts about rig suggestion in specific budget. Members will get idea how market is going on... It's not about exact price, it's about budget deciding factor.
