PC Peripherals Upgradation of a P4 Machine

Guys,

I joined TechEnclave site today only. Its of wonderful help to people like with minimal hardware knowledge...
I have a P4 machine,1.8Ghz,512MB RAM DDR, Intex Cabinet got in 2003.
Now i want to upgrade the system to the latest Processor, RAM etc...
Could you people help me with what parts in my existing system can reused, also what is the approx amount that i have to shell out considering an average gaming system and High downloading as major req system...

any more details ? I am thinking yr KBD, mouse & montor along with the case can be reuse

a 360 gb sata segate will cost you 2500 +/-

2 gb ram should run you around 2000 +/- depending on the brand

a processor abt 7 k

mobo about 4 k

again you would need a nice psu for abt 1300

a dvd r+/- drive around 1200 +/-

i am no expert but let the experts see this and let your head get ready to explode with choices
 
First you have to tell the amout you can shell out or as dasgupta_arup says you can always check the pc buliding thread and get the idea.

Actually i am even thinking of gettin a new monitor..
The things i can reuse i meant like SMPS n Cables n stuff, has the orientation changed for the new proc??

I had similar set up as yours and i reused cabinet , floppy drive, dvd writer. Cables u usually get with new equipments. SMPS if its working well then u can reuse provided you are not going to overburden the its power. Ofcourse monitor u can reuse as well :D

As such i have no problem with the budget as far as wat i get is essential fr d system.. but stil i have to keep the budget minimum...

I think you should seriously explore some buyback options,as ypou won't be able to use most of the components in your pc. I think you can get around Rs.5000 for your old PC easily, may be more. So take this amount add some more and go for a completely new PC.
