Guys,

I love riding my P220 Dts-i, bought in October 2009. I wanted to buy the Ninja, but it was outta budget. now that the cbr 250 has launched, i wanna upgrade to it!

my main concerns are will the upgrade be a wise decision? Coz, i really wanna feel the upgrade worth the difference i pay for it!

i know many would talk about the quality, but i wanna know the performance difference! Would it be noticable? Would it really serve the purpose of a good city bike and a speedster on highways, when needed ;)?

Also, how much would my P220 fetch in the second market? Clocked 15.5K kms, serviced regularly and maintained neat!

What are your expectations from a 250 cc bike .. only then can we determine whether the CRB will live up to it ..

The bike is a fine piece of machinery ..

What kind of usage do you plan with your potential 250cc ?

I've written my expectations bro! I want performance when i need. i know the ninja does it and does it uperbly well on highways. Would the cbr 250 be a suitable upgrade in terms of performance from my P220, cause the pulsar, regardless the quality is a great highway performer and doesnt disappoint in the city aswell! My question is simple. Would the upgrade be a wise decision?

it is supposed to be way better than pulsar, should give you better top speed, better acceleration, smoother ride and better handling than the pulsar and of course better quality and reliability!

but what kind of performance gain are you expecting, only you can be a judge of that...

so my suggestion is take it for a test ride and draw your conclusion,if it would meet the performance you expect for the money you are investing!!!

Red alert

here's a link to a review i found

Well all i can say is that CBR 250 has disappointed many bikers.

A good friend of mine and TE member waseem46 booked the CBR250 waited for its delivery, took the test drive and ended up getting a ninja yesterday.

According to him its not worth an upgrade. He had yamaha r15 before.

So just test drive it before investing money in it.

I doubt about the upgrade from p220. If I'm not wrong 220 have 20 bhp power, where this one is 5 bhp more.
Though as I read from the net the engine of cbr is a gem and a typical honda nature i,e silent as well as lazy which gives you 2.5 lakh kilometer or more engine life.

But again servicing and maintance is much more costly than bajaj.

Some ppl who drove the bike till now commented that this the bike what hero honda new karizma zmr must be. But HH disapoint all of us.

In xbhp forum a 550+ page dissussion on going in news section, If u serious about this bike u must follow that thread.

Petrol will be 100 bucks a liter by end of this year most prolly. :(. Consider that too. :S.

I am sad with my p200 and Electra 5S. :S.

I'm also in the same boat ... want to upgrade from by 2007 220 DTS-FI , but CBR250R isnt much of an upgrade ... Ninja is way too costly ! :( ... If i go for C-ABS CBR250R it'll cost ~ 1.9L thought comes into mind tht for 1.1L I would miss getting Proper Sports Bike ... The two cylinder 33PS nirvana :-/ ... On the other hand , Ninja has dated instruments , low fuel efficiency and Spare parts are too costly(thrice their original price !). Maintaining it would be costly affair on long run ... sigh , we need more options :(

Well I too m in the same dilemma bro.... The Ninja is an awesome bike. Hope that bajaj starts assembling/making it in india rather than importing, due to which the costs are high!

And wtf! Petrol prices are going up by 2.5rs from tonight! Shitty government! :x

If bajaj/kawasaki start making the bike in india, it will be a serious competition to Honda and the pricing will fall, plus the new gen bike will come equipped with the latest goodies. Atleast hope so ;)

^^maybe it's time for diesel bikes to come rule the market...lol

a few days back i did read in the paper that in the hydrogen based petroleum has been invented and should cost 1/3 that of petrol and shall be available in as soon as 3 yrs, let's keep our fingers crossed on this one...:)

btw i doubt they are gonna manufacture the baby ninja here...the chances are next to none if u ask me!!!:(

Just sharing my experience guys for my test drive yesterday of cbr250r

first dont compare shit pulsar to might of cbr , have u even seen th c-abs performance ( combined anti braking system) best in the class guys

hell even ninja 250 cant come close , coming to the engine and speed stuff u can cruise at 140 easily on highways and take it 170 still can feel the hunger of the engine , hell one can zip the traffic at 100 ( yeah i know wat iam saying ) can u do that in pilusarrr , one cant sharp turn and cornering in indian bikes , the sexy digital, paint job done in cbr250, 140/70 17M/C mm tyres damn they sexy ( does ninja have fatter tyres) , Design- comes of from vfr and cbr series . just compares these things to pulsar ,even r15 , CBR 250 is best in the class

@ pratzgh1 it worth upgrade bro

Me also stuck in the same lane ...Have never owned a bike yet so im a bit more confused n have more options :P Yamaha launching a new model of the R15 though the specs are same .. just a slight change in its design ... also the pulsar 220 as told by many is worth going for .. can even get the cbr .. but the ninja is out of budget ...

@BoRNTeRRI3T

ninja's top speed is somewhere around 170(read in some review),ninja is in a whole different league,it's in the sports bike category and it has proven itself all around the globe...n got rave reviews!ninja is better in terms of outright performance...

n of course pulsar and cbr are from different leagues too,no comparison between them, but 170 for cbr sounds too much...

design--cbr>ninja(subjective)

performance--ninja>cbr

fuel efficiency--cbr>ninja

practicality--cbr>ninja(it's built in india, cheaper and easily available spare parts)

@ demonic

agreed ninja has better engine and styling specially rear , but its not miles ahead for that i dont want to pay twice the money

but still in that price no bikes give c-abs and honestly before cbr there was competitor for ninja it had monopoly the only little competition was from hoysung which

performed miserably in front of ninja ,it has been three years from 2008 much has changed in ninja 250r. hope this help words from the pros http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/first-impressions/17938-when-ninja-met-its-winged-brother-ninja-versus-cbr250r.html

don't even put hyosung's name in this league, acc to me any bike is way better than theirs just because they provide pathetic service, very hard to source parts and expensive too...

i remember they releasing two bikes the aquila and comet...both failed miserably!so ur completely right in this one....even taking their name is an offence.lol

and i agree that the performance gain that ninja gives over the cbr is definitely not worth the price difference...just that those who have the moolah and want even more performance can go for the ninja...if just ninja was produced here in india then there wud be some fierce competition between the two!!!

and about the abs system,it's indeed a very neat feature...really helpful as a safety feature, most people can make use of this and is highly recommended but however some enthusiasts(a handful at most) wouldn't prefer this, since they love doing their stoppies, and u can't do one with abs i think!!!

but everything is working more in favour of the cbr as u pointed until n unless the person who's taking the bike is a hardcore enthusiast and who loves doing some insane stunts(read:stoppie)and also is willing to splurge some money!!!!:D
