hello frnz this is my 1st post....well i m very much confused as i m thinking of an upgrade but not able to decide that for wat i shud go 4...so plz need help, suggestions from u guyz...new rig is basically for gaming,surfing...and few normal things.
here is my CURRENT RIG:-
1.AMD64 3000+ 9393
2.MSI RS 480M2 MOBO
3.512 Hynix Ram
4.80GB SEAGATE BARRICUDA HDD
5.17" CRT SAMSUNG 793MB
6.Sony DVD-ROM,CD-RW
7.Iball 350w PSU

i m gonna stick with my current HDD,MONITOR,SONY DRIVE...
firstly i need to ask u few things
1.shud i wait for proc & mobo for few months as hav heard that loads of nu socket, proc etc etc r gonna b launched soon.or i shud get it rite now???i wanna good proc and mobo...as my current proc is decent for all kinda things specially games...but wen it comes to multitasking then...:( :death: :boxed: ...i can go for any intel or amd...as per u guyz...but slightly better proc then wat i m using...and good mobo.
2.i m gonna go for a decent GPU...as i m gonna play loads of games.i m getting a used 6800GT,Ati Radeon 850XT with 1 month warranty for 14k..is it a good deal and which one is betta???..or else i shud get a new 6800GS???
3.1GB RAM,GOOD PSU???
thanks in advance:cool2:

Hmmm... I will advise you go in steps...

If you are a gamer then first of all buy the gfx card...

X850 > 6800GT = 6800 GS

Then i will advise you to upgrade the mobo and overclock that 3000+... If it is not good enough for you then buy a dual core proccy... Hope you got a fair enough idea :)...

P.S. A good PSU is always recommened no matter what PC you go in for :)...

Stick with same everything.....

Get a 6600GT or a 6800GS(if you can stretch to around 15K).

Upgrade your PSU. Get at least a Powersafe 500 watts or even better(if you can afford), an Antec NeoHE.

Oh... just read your post again....

The X850 XT for 14K is AWESOME!!!! and 1 yr warranty is even better.

And what abt the 6800GT?? 14K for a used 6800GT is a bit on the higher side in my opinion.

And sell away the 512MB and get 2 GB RAM of 2 sticks of 1 GB each.

Where are you from?? We can recommend what RAM is available in the place you live.

Of course, in Utopia, everything should be free and available. :P

Keep the Dual Core proccy as your last priority. Your CPU is good enough. Overclock it and add a nice graphics card and 1/2GB of RAM and you are ready to PARTY!!!!

And why are you not thinking of upgrading your sound card and speakers??

Think abt that too..... Dont want to confuse you too much :P

In Priority

1). Graphics card
2). RAM
3). Power Supply
4). soundcard + speakers
5).motherboard(go for an Asus A8N-E as it overclocks much better than the MSI one you already have).

thanks a lot Nikhil,Switch for quick reply.
1.i m not gonna over clock.
2.my budget for GPU is around 15k.
3.I hav Creative Inspire 4.1 Speakers.
4.warranty for that 850XT is for 1 month:(
5.yea i m thinking of getting a decent sound card....but which one???
6.plz gemme 2-3 options for mobo.1 is ASUS A8N-E.
7.Budget for PSU is arnd 4-5K.
so i shud not change my PROC...or shud i????as i m not going to overclock:(

If you are a hardcore gamer, stick to the cpu but get a good gfx card...like a new 6600GT or a used 6800GT...And if you wanna overclock, get a better mobo along with the gfx card, say, an A8N-E..its the best value overclocker mobo..:)

If you want good multi tasking along with gaming, get a dual core proc..but mind you, they are expensive and not really worth the price rit now as not many games utilize dual core..so decide according to your priority..

And yeah, save the money and get more RAM..atleast 1GB..

Sorry for such a big post..and forgive me i wrote sumthin..
thanks in advance:cool2:
1. Stick with the current cpu, maybe swap the mobo for something better which allows oc'ing. For multi-tasking and loads of it dual core is the way to go. But they are still expensive right now so imo wait for a few months and let the prices fall.
2. Get the 6800GS with 3 years warranty. The x850 will be faster but doesn't look like a good deal from the warranty point of view. Sacrifice a few fps/iq for warranty :P
3. Yeah u really need a gig of ram for gaming and a decent psu like antec 400w or VIP 500w if you are planning to get a 6800GS.

without any doubts go for x850xt but 1 month warranty from where r u gettin? 1 month warranty seems weird 2 me and not at all justified unless ur gettin from TE :bleh: , stick wit 6800gs
Ram NO USE of 2 gb GET 512 * 2 ENUFFF.
Mobo Get dfi if budget allows u or asus a8n-e .:)
PSU Increase 1.3k more and go for Antec Neo HE100% worth the money or zebby 640 for 5500 /-.
Proccyi say either sell it get dual core opteron or keep it thers no use goin for a single core proccy dumping another single core.

I somehow know this guy it seems... Cause it is my X850 he is talking about for sure :P... BTW its a X850 XT PE and not X850... Remember that P...

Please do overclock!!!! Dont sya you are not going to overclock!!!

Overclocking within sensible limits is extremely value for money.

You get a 3800+ equaled performance if you oc your 3000+ to 2.4 Ghz which is not much. It is very simple.

Where are you from?? We can advise you better based on the place.

ya switch dats ur x850 xt pe ..the one i talked to u on phone yday about..

@Aniruddh

here is what i suggest.

1. Stick with the current mobo+procc.

2. Get the x850XT PE. 6800GT is a loser in front of it.

3. Upgrade your ram to 1GB DDR 400

4. Get an Antec 500W (minimum) PSU.

5. Get a Creative SB live 7.1 soundcard for 1900/- bucks .. more than enough for your Inspire 4400.

Get a Creative SB live 7.1 soundcard for 1900/- bucks .. more than enough for your Inspire 4400.

I think the onboard audio on the MSI mobo is good enough for the Inspire 4400..

Anyways,it wont be able to reproduce the high fidelity sound of SB live any better than the onboard audio..i have those speakers, they sound the same on the onboard 5.1 soundmax audio of my P4P800D as they do on the SB live...;) However if you wanna go for a better speaker, then think about a sound card...it wud be better to invest the money somewhere else..like RAM...:)

First change the SMPS go for an 500 Watt smps atleast,go for more RAM,get 512 more, then u'll have dual channel support,go for a 6800GS,its worth the money, and for heaven's sake pick up the audigy ZS its pretty cheap now and its a zillion times better than an onboard solution

thanks a lot for those reply's...so final i m goin for these things:-
1-Asus A8NE mobo...i kno its a very good mobo...but i want the best asafter this i wont b able to change my mobo for sum time...so shud i go for this one or is there a betta mobo???...and yeaaa i hav heard from many people that this mobo hav sum probs wid its Fan...i hope now this probs hav been sorted out...the colour of the mobo is black:D no???
2-Kingston 512*2 DDR 400 ram.(for exact model etc etc ...need to ask mohit)
3-Antec 480w or above psu
4-Graphic card...this is the most imp part...and still i m not able to decide which one to buy
5.Creative SB live 7.1 soundcard
6.can any one temme a good 5.1 speakers...BUDGET 6K MAX...
:-well i m not much into OC'ing..and dun hav any idea how to OC...but as u guyz said shud try so is this mobo gud for oc???and wat other thins needed to OC??where i can learn bout OC'ING???
Yaar mohit phir bataye hi nahi yaar kya kare...jane ka bhi postponed karwa diya hoon iske chakkar mein :(

why are u changing the mobo my friend when u dont want to o/c ??? if u see here nobody has advised u to change it .. this will be a waste of 5.5k absolutely. U can use this money to get a better gpu instead.

First and foremost buy a PSU .. Min 500W and make it Antec. For 5.1 speakers within 6k there will be Altec Lansing VS3151R and Creative Inspire 5200 .. I prefer Altec Lansing. Creative SB live is also a good VFM card.Kingston RAM is decent if u dont wanna overclock.

Now regarding your GPU well get that 6800GT from your bro for now or get the X850XT PE. This is your choice dood.

There is another deal for an EVGA 7800GT for 16.5 k here in TE .. if u can i suggest you wait for sometime before buying the gpu as prices are going to fall down considerably both for Nvidia and ATI.

get the eVGA 7800GT!!!! It is an AWESOME deal...

And if you are hell bent on not oc'ing, then dont change the mobo.

^^Lol nikhil..dont wanna include newbies into the elite band of brothers(ocers),eh ?? :bleh:

Hey ani, even if you are new to the world of ocing, there is enough to find on the net ..just do a google..

@Anni
see the point is clear .. if u have a desire for overclocking get the ASUS A8N-E .. if not stick with the RS480. Hope u get it. I know by talking to you on phone that the only reason you are planning to change your mobo is that you are worried about the perfomance of a Nvidia GPU on an ATI chipset based mobo .. If that is the thing you are still worried about then my friend you will be acting foolish to dump your mobo for the sole reason.

See my siggy .. I am also using an ATI card on a Nforce 4 ultra board and without any issues or perfomance drop. I hope u understand the point. Dont simply waste 5.5k man .. and regarding overclocking i know u will never do it :P
