I plan on upgrading just my motherboard and processor. I need assistance on deciding what is the best, most vfm, viable long term alternative.

I am getting a brand new core i7 3770 + gigabyte b5 D3h for 22k all inclusive from a local shop. I want something which will suffice my needs for the next 3-5 years and something that's a vfm option. I will not overclock anything. Will a core i5 3450/3550 suffice or should I get the core i7 3700? I don't need any K processors I believe they would be an overkill for me.

Got a core i5 3550 + gigabyte b75m-d3h @ Rs.16700
Cost breakup -intel core i5 3550 @ Rs.12700
gigabyte b75m-d3h @ 4000

Ahmedabad has some of the cheapest hardware prices when compared to mumbai/bangalore. This comes from a native of mumbai for over 23 years!
 
created the thread - made my mind left - left my house @ 12 noon - bought hardware by 1 pm - system assembled by 3 pm - the end!

By the way did you manage to get the dust filters for the fan mount-points on the cabinet?

ALPHA17 -omg I forgot about those! thanks for reminding me I picked up 5 of these - Buy Urgent -- for the other vents I managed to cut thin sheets of foam over the perforations to prevent dust entering. this has helped a lot.
