Hi,

I have windows Xp Sp2 and Windows Vista Sp1 [32 bit] in a dual boot configuration.I was wondering if its possible to upgrade from vista 32 bit to windows 7 32 bit? If yes how to do it?
Anyone using windows 7 could you please share whether latest games play well on windows 7?

Regards,
Sahil.

So when i do upgrade can i still run apps and games w/o any conflicts?
If you face any problem.....
right click setup file -> properties -> compatibility -> select windows vista

If you still having problem related to compatibility in windows 7, Microsoft has released an update for such issues.

You can read details about this update from here:
A software update is available that addresses common application compatibility issues in Windows 7 Beta
You can download this update from here:
Download details: Update for Windows 7 Client Beta (KB967062)

Even if you want to upgrade, you would get the best results if you uninstall the applications, upgrade to Windows 7, and reinstall them.

See. Nothing can be confirmed while you're in a BETA Mode.
Whatever others say out here , there still maybe bugs in there which my harm your data or whatsoever. So if you have important data on your HDD don't use Windows 7 on it , is what I recommend. If you have a spare computer , go ahead use it ! Or atleast take backup of your data if you still want to use the Beta version of this OS.

^^
Agree..

I am facing some problems.. Though some config files messed up i guess, so normal work is fine.. But No access to control panel or any other System settings..

I am planning to switch back to Vista in couple of days..

Sahilshah1987,

I’d recommend a clean install, if that’s doable for you. Regardless of what you decide to do, please, please make a backup (here’s a link to a guide for that: How to backup a PC)

Just in general, here’s a link to some info that should help you out with your install: How to install the Windows 7 Beta

Have fun with the Beta.

Hi eXcesscaLIBER,

That’s great that you’re having some good gameplay in Windows 7. What kind of a rig are you running it on? Do you think it’s more that your hardware is tweaked to good point or the interaction with the OS that is making it smoother?

Cheers,
