I have ordered VX550 , which will be replacing my CM EPP 500W ...

Now I have an old Intex 600VA UPS , will that be sufficient for vx550 ??

If I go for APC , then there seems to be some problem with its stepped-sine wave and Active PFC of corsair :S , cant afford to go for Pure Sine Wave UPS ... (gone through few similar similar threads)

I just need backup of Few seconds before the Inverter steps up ... Also I have Servo Stabilizer installed ...

Please suggest decently priced UPS for my config (see siggy ) ...

This Sine wave - Active PFC stuff is confusing me ...

I think your system, including your monitor would consume at most about 350 watts under load...so your current ups should do.
If you do get a second video card, then upgrade it, but for now, I think you're set.
I'm running a vx450 on a powersafe 1kva ups, it's not a pure sine wave model, and I haven't faced any problems. AFAIK the only problem people have faced is an irritating, but harmless buzzing noise.

Which video card you are planning to add?It would increase the total power consumtion.Get APC 800VA ,it would provide good backup even during gaming. In case you don't plan to do gpu upgrade then keep the current UPS.

Hold onto the UPS purchase. Hook up the new components and load the GPU using Furmark. That is the most you system will ever draw. Then switch the UPS supply off. See if it holds. Maximum you will get is a sudden shut down, this will tell you if it is good enough or not. Self test...!

Yeah , thr is still time before i buy new GPU ... seems nice idea (economically) to stick to current UPS as for now ...

But my current UPS is quite old ( around 3 yrs if i remember right !) ...

M concerned about vx550 , it should be safe anyhow !!!

@iamddevil: What is the backup time on your Powersafe UPS ? Does it plug into a normal socket or High Power socket ? Also does it have internal/external batteries ? Also can you specify the cost ? Thanks.

I have exactly the same SMPS Vx550 and my HP 800VA UPS gives me only 1-2 mins power backup. I am also looking for a UPS, which can power for atleast 20-40 mins. The more the better.

Anyone having the APC Smart UPS 1000IN or better, can you let me know if it plugins to a regular (5-6A) socket or High Power (12-15A) socket ? I want to buy one and my house doesn't have any extra High Power socket, only regular sockets.

my powersafe used to give me about 40 mins backup when I bought it, then the battery died 3 months later, was replaced for free, and gave me about 20-25 mins backup for about 1 year. Now, after 4 years of owning it, I get about 4-5 mins max.
It's time for me to change the batteries.
It's got internal batteries, and it connects to your pc with a serial port for monitoring the ups battery. It plugs into a normal socket. I bought it for about 4k.

How old is your current UPS? Maybe a battery change is all you need.

Go for Powersafe 1KVA or PCM 1KVA about 4K/-

Pcm is better than powersafe.
Any Idea from where I can procure PCM UPS ?? Sites like theitwares or prime doesnt seem to stock it ...

I have the APC smart series UPS 1000UXI it plug to a regular 5-6A socket, they don't supply the power cord you will need to use the the cable that came with the SMPS or the monitor.
