planning to buy UPS for home rig
atm it looks like APC is the better choice.
please suggest other models available.

budget - around 2-3 K

Get the APC 650VA priced at ~3k.

hmm,
there are 2 options in APC 650 VA
BE650Y-IN
and
BK650-AS BK650-AS
which one out of these two ?
Is there a better option if I manage to increase the budget slightly ? i.e. Different brand/make ?

this is the best for this budget

and there seems to be no appreciable difference between the models other than the color and plug interface

APC is the best of the lot - but they can be pricey - I wanted to buy a 1kva UPS and the APC was out of my budget - so I got a PCM (Powercom)1kva UPS for around 4k. This PCM UPS has worked perfectly sice July 06.

Ahh, Eazy ... I exactly wanted to know that ... feedback for brands apart from APC.
