Hi guys,

Its been a while since I have been using a spike guard on my PC instead of a UPS, Ive blown 2 of them so far, a low end microtek and an APC BACK-UPS ES 500VA. I am on the lookout for a new UPS and have a couple of options which I saw and would you guys to help me out

My rig is as follows:

P4 2.8E
Intel original 865GBF
1 gig Kingston DDR400 value ram
EVGA 6800GT
40GB Seagate 7200RPM HDD
80GB Seagate SATA
Sony DVD-R
2 x Vantec Vortex HDD coolers
Thermaltake Hardcano 12 fan controller
5 LED fans
Ultra X-connect 500W PSU
Creative SBS 2.1
17" Samsung 763DFX
Frozencpu Illuminated Keyboard
Iball optical mouse
Vantec Spectrum USB lit mousepad

Phew!! ok then. I thought of this:

Cost Rs 3400 as per the review

and thought of this:

The 600VA Model.

What do you guys suggest?

i am currently using APC 800VA UPS and quite satisfied with the performance .... it gives around 20mins backup with mine current rig on full load like playing games etc ..... and around 40mins with moniter off ...... nice UPS but the PC connection has gone kaput ..... APC sevice is very good just call them and they will change it .....

around 5k if i remember correctly .....but now it will be around 4.5k ... just chk it out with APC retailler .... its a two battery model ....

im using an ES 500...and i havent blown anything...yet ....it doesnt give too much back up time but i just shut it off when the power goes so...

daviescool,
This post isn't about UPS, need some help. My cousin has a 3.0 GHz Prescott and a Intel 865GBF mobo. The assembler gave him just 128 MB of DDR266. I'm trying to upgrade it to 2 x 256 MB DDR400 and operate in dual channel mode. I'm thinking of using Transcend 256 MB modules, will the 865GBF mobo operate in dual channel mode with this memory ? The Intel website recommends 256 MB DS 128 Mbit 16 M x 8/16 M x 8 modules. You have the same mobo, please comment.
