I am contemplating buying a BIG 7600GS. The mobo which I would be using for this card is ASUS A8N VM. Are there are compatibility issues regarding this combination? I remember having read something to this effect, but dont remember where. Thanks for the help!

Please follow the link to another thread : http://www.techenclave.com/forums/mobo-graphic-card-choice-75557.html . There is extensive talk about this combination. Can someone please confirm that things work for them?

@iomen When did you buy your card + mobo. Did you ever face problems of any sort? Thanks for the reply.

Both are about 2 months old. Yes, the 7600GS did die on me but I don't believe it was because of the motherboard.

First, my original 7600GS was passively cooled and factory overclocked. My temps were going into the 80s/90s. Also, at the time, I was using a cheapie (350W Zynix) PSU so that could have been the culprit.

I got a replacement XFX 7600GS card and have it overclocked at 500/900, took off the crappy passive heatsink and put an HSF. Temps do not go above 60s (idles in 40s) and it runs butter smooth. I have also upgraded from that horrible PSU to a 400W Powersafe which has 20A 12V rail. That is enough for the setup I have.

In your case, to avoid trouble: 1) Make sure the 7600GS has a HSF, and 2) Get a decent power supply.
