Galvanizer
i own a CM silent pro M 850w....
yesterday night, just while i was reinstalling win 7, just heard a boom along with a flash (spark) just above the psu inside the cabinet...
strangely, machine was still on and didnt turn off after this, but i got worried and rebooted the machine, since then, the machine is only booting if i reset the bios to defaults and if i am loading my saved oc'ed bios settings, it is constantly restarting..
now what should i do?
1. all peripherals like gpu, hdd's are working fine... or they just seem to be working fine? i am saying that they are fine, since i just reset the bios in the morning and installed the windows all over again without any glitches..
2. should i RMA the PSU? if YES then what should i tell the RMA center? i am asking this, since if i tell them that i saw a spark, then will they honour warranty?
please suggest me my next step.. will take the psu today only to the rma center..
TIA,
Vrishi

Just take it to them and tell them your PC is restarting often with this PSU and that you have tested with another PSU and no restarts are observed then. If there was spark, then something has burnt or got short circuited and your PSU will no longer be stable. Dont run your system on it even if it seems to run fine.

Smell it and see if you can recognize any burning. Take your chance with the RMA...

nothing is identifiable... have given it to acro engg, vasai on 29th itself, first they told that it will take 2 to 3 days. and still they are testing.... i am not keen in accepting the same psu, as it may damage other components....

now waiting for acro engg to reply...
