Hey guys..

My colony has recently been plagued with atleast 2, one hour each load-shedding power cuts.

My Inverter battery died a while ago.

I have a Genus 800VA Pure Sine Wave HomeUPS - Genus Power Infrastructures Ltd.

I read here the formula for calculating battery power

Code:
Load/Voltage x Backup hours = Amperes

Example: 500Watt/12V x 4hours = 166Ah
Is this correct? Also I don't know jack shit about UPS/Inverters/Batteries

Please recommend me some good batteries, Need to buy tomorrow..

TIA

PS - In general context, do the UPS or Inverters have inbuilt voltage stabilizers, like those attached before an A/C?

Suppose my voltage drops below 200v or exceeds 240v, then what happens in either of the cases?

PSS - Voltage Stabilizer = Surge protection?

Get Exide InvaTubuler... Best battery for inverter....

No, inverter does not have voltage stabilizer for equipment connected to it... Though it does have an inbuilt system to protect itself & the battery from low & high voltages.... Not the fluctuations but low input & high input voltages.....

Exide InvaTubuler is zero maintenance ?
and how much Ah should I get

Im getting Exide Tubuler 150Ah for Rs9500 and Exide regular 150Ah for Rs.8800 and 135Ah for Rs.7800

Are these prices decent?

Thnx a lot guys for the quick response.

Are there any other brand I should look out for.. or is exide good enough?

You cannot go wrong with Exide InvaTubuler... If you want maintenance free then look for Amaron SHIELD Inverter batteries...

Exide has a few variants InvaRed, InvaTubular and then there are the regular ones.

How much difference is there b/w Tubular and non-tubular?

Tubular batteries have a better life? and/or Higher backup duration?

I saw APC UPS today, 500VA, 600VA - 3700/-, 800VA - 6500/-, 1KVA - 9000/-
Also, saw Inverters & Exide batteries, Inverter-Battery setup provides much more backup.
What do you guys say, which is a better buy, a APC UPS or regular inverter-battery setups?

Inverters are best used with tubular batteries and they will last several years if properly cared for.

Thnx to everyone for helping out

I bought the Exide InvaRed 500+ (Tubular 150Ah w/ 20% extra electrolyte) for Rs9700

36months flat warranty
