I had recently posted a thread to ask advice for finalizing the components for my new computer

I got many great suggestions from the members and decided to go with what they suggested

I was going to buy the Seasonic S12II 520W 80+ Bronze PSU suggested by "thegatekeeper" from Ebay

But due to the dollar fluctuations, the prices of the main components rose a little bit and was going out of budget

Now my real questions is: Should I stick with the above 520W SMPS or go for Seasonic S12II 430W 80+ Bronze?

I will not overclock the CPU, but will overclock the graphics card and in future will add 4 GB(2 GB X 2) ram and a 500 GB Hard Disk

Will these extra components cripple the 430 W PSU or should I get the 520W one to be on safer side?

I know the price difference between both is not huge but I am already 2000 rupees over my Budget, I am asking urgent reply because I have a coupon which ends on 30 September

Thanks for the reply Vivek.Krishnan

Yes it is my thread and the same thread I mentioned above

I was on the fence because the PSU thread on tech enclave said that a 430W or 450W SMPS is enough for a system with single GPU and no OC, but some online Watt Calculators gave 450-500 as minimum Watts required and also the AMD page listed 500W as minimum for 6850

Anyway again thanks for reply, will buy it today

Well, its always better to keep a 100W margin for power as safety. Also at full load, the efficiency drops, its good between 50~80% of total rated. For more queries, ask chirag, as he is more well informed in this department!

Yes very well said, will surely ask chirag from now, the stupid local dealer was recommending the PSU that comes with the cabinet!!!

^^never use those unless its corsair;).. 520w is the base minimum for you.. 60% of your power supply's rated output must equal the system load. then both system and psu will be comfortable.. 80 percent is also ok but not for very long times.. 100 percent and above for very very short times. Such a load will either kill your psu or other components if persisted at for longer durations. best is the 520w

Thanks both, antz123 and mrcool63 for pitching in

Then I found a PSU thread on Toms Hardware which cleared my doubts and I finally bought it from ebay
