CPU/Mobo URGENT HELP NEEDED.....Opteron OR Xeon for 3ds MAX...

I am building a workstation for a friend who will be using it for modeling and rendering building walk thoughs and also for compositing work in combustion. I am planning for a Quadro FX till 15k, 3 GB of ECC Memory.
The main confusion I have is Opteron or Xeon, Quad or Dual core and which mobo and are socket AM2+ n LGA 775 workstation processors available in India ?

I need help on Processor...Mobo...GFX....

I have something in mind but way to confusued and dono if v get that here easily :ashamed:
 
1. Fastest will be a dual xeon system. Most vfm will be multiple C2Q systems.
2. He'll need more ram. 4gb is the starting point. And obviously a 64-bit OS.
3. Haven't used a quadro, so can't comment on whether the price diff over a geforce justifies the extra cost.
 
^^ ok any info about rate and suitable lga 771 mobo availability in india ....

anlother thing i cant import anything via KMD as my friend is too paranoid about it...if tht was the case i would have assembled one long back...here all dealers are mOrons....sell bhajipala....
 
On a single machine or even on a cluster of 4, ECC RAM is absolute waste of money. You could go for C2D and non ECC RAM and get the same perfomance/stability...

If you want to go for professional cards, Quadro FX570 is a good budget card at a decent price.
 
ok ECC ram out then will C2Q till 15k be better than opteron n xeons in same price range ? cause he ill be duing professional work on the machine...

WD 640GB

i really doubt he is going to need a quadro card for doing walkthroughs ...unless he plans to get into poly intensive character modelling ...for an entry level quadro card he can get a mid range card and be very happy with it ...speaking out of personal experience
