hmm ur 3 main requirements r 60gb hdd + 512 ram + dvd rw. u shud also focus on motherboard and processor.

if ur budget is 35-40 k, then it ll be difficult.for example, dell laptops start from 45k.i searched in compaq..and hp..etc site.

finally i got some laptops but they dont fulfill ur requirements completely.these r some links

http://h50025.www5.hp.com/hpcom/in_en/11_29_64_4888_EX029PA.html

http://h50025.www5.hp.com/hpcom/in_en/11_29_64_4592_EQ559PA.html

laptop which suits ur requirement is

http://h50025.www5.hp.com/hpcom/in_en/11_29_64_4375_EQ600PA.html

but it is around 46k.

if u can increase ur budget atleast 10k, then u can ve lot of choices.otherwise u ve to compromise on any of our requirements.

mp3 player need to b portable at most possible......same as that of iriver one........ipod too will do...

budget ard 5k.......i have mention that in my 1st post

What sorta mp3 player you looking for ?

I mean capacity, features, budget, etc..

He has already specified the capacity and brief features.

anyway the iPod is out for you because of your requirement for FM radio. You should look at these:

I had the 512 MB version of this one:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/SanD...35107/catOid/-12952/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

It really is an excellent piece and it is well within your budget. It is a bit ugly in shape though.

This one is also good and within your budget:

or

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16855102186

if you find newegg more convenient than circuitcity.

But all these are in the US and you are talking of buying the MP3 from the gulf I guess.

For the notebook, the following are around the Rs. 40 K mark:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Acer...43083/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Comp...49451/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

This one is a cheaper deal closer to 35 K:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115327

and you could see on the circuitcity website they are offering some fantanstic deals on the Turion based models.

anish wht abt the battery???????how much time for recharge and discharge(music play)........it looks a good option with good low price

It comes with a Lithium-Ion battery (same like iPod's) which can be recharged via the USB port of your PC/Lappy.

Once charged fully, lasts for 15 hrs. Neat option. Mine should arrive tomm. will try to post a short review :)

wht do u mean by mail in rebates??????

wht abt this deal guys.........it says 899$ after mail in rebate

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834117248
Since someone who resides in the US is buying it for you, the mailin rebate should work. It did for me twice.
You get a rebate coupon when you buy the product. Then you send the coupon by post to the manufacturer and it takes about 8 weeks to get the rebate.
For instance, in this case you pay $999 upfront and you get the $100 rebate back after about 8 weeks. It is a very common business practice over there.
