Urgent ! Wireless Modem+Router Suggestion for Net+HD

Guys,

Have Almost finalized Linksys WAG120N for my friend who is about to shift base.
His is going to be a single floor house ( 3 rooms + Lobby) and needs a wi fi modem+router for his usage.
Has got a BSNL connection.
Usage includes:

1) 1 x Desktop
2) 1 x Laptop
3) 1 x ipad/itouch
All these well might be accessing the net simultaneously.
Also,
4) Looking for a router to stream HD content to his HD Tv Set. Includes 720p as well as 1080p.

Priority is getting a good router with stable connection.
Getting Linksys WAG120N at a good price here at TE. Almost finalized.
Pricing seems to suit him fine but just want to be sure before giving my friend the green signal.
Looking forward to seal the deal today itself.

1) How is the selected model for the mentioned requirements?
2) Any other cheaper and effective model available for the requirements ?
3) Also suggest a router with usb port please.

And pls do add any other cost effective altenative for the mentioned requirements with configurable router will also do. ( tomato juice)

Can you ask the person you're getting the router from if he can access noise margin, attenuation etc info? There was some talk on the Cisco forums that this modem does not show the DSL line stats which are btw needed for troubleshooting ADSL connection/ speed problems.

Apart from that, it should work out just fine. Though, if it were upto me, I'd get something with gigabit ethernet ports just for the option of switching to LAN for the HD streaming. N speeds are good enough but a wired Gigabit does a lot of good for skipping through HD movies :).

Seems your friend is on a budget, otherwise I'd recommend getting a dedicated modem and router. No idea about particular models currently available though I'm also on the look out for a N router (for a friend).

Edit: A friend's Belkin is lying with me for testing but the adapter is not working. Getting a spare today to test the performance. It's got a storage link (USB) and 4 1000Mbps ports. I'll most probably finish up by late evening. Will post impressions here then. If your friend is not into troubleshooting/ fixing things up himself and the pricing on the Linksys is good, go ahead with it.

Edit 2: Couldn't get a compatible adapter so I'll be returning the Belkin router to my friend so he can apply for RMA. I don't use custom firmware but the Belkin that I have linked above seems to have won lots of appreciation and it also has a USB port for storage.

There's also a Belkin which can do torrents etc (more info here) but I expect it to be a little pricey. I'm thinking of getting that if I can source it at a good price. Have a look at the earlier Belkin N+ if price is an issue for your friend. It's available on ebay for 4k something. Part no is F5D8235**.

Im not very convinced about the WAG120N as Im a firm believer of separating the modem from the wireless router. There are hardly any choices when you want to combine the two and when there is a issue, the BSNL and Airtel guys simply wash their hands off the problem.

MY suggestion is to get a very basic modem from BSNL for less then Rs 800 and then get a good wireless router from the market. In this case, you have a infinite number of choices for the WIFI router based on your budget.
