hey mates i kinda need some suggestions for my friend to replace his old motherboard.budget is round about 3 k.quick suggestions will be appreciated.

Does your friend have a DDR 2 RAM or the DDR3? Assuming your friend has the DDR2 sticks, these are some cheap but rock-solid boards and costs under 3k:
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-G31M-ES2L (rev. 2.3)

There is another board which supports both DDR2 as well as DDR3. Please look up at Gigabyte's website. In case he desires to switch to DDR3 later, this board might be a good idea.
PS: I've used the G31-ES2L as a replacement for an X38 board for almost 5~6 months before I jumped to the SNB bandwagon. It was a good performed and was able to overclock my E8400 to 4G without any issues.

Going by the thread title, get a G31/G41 based Motherboard.
Gigabyte G41 or this MSI G31. Although would advise you to try finding a used one if you have the time, its not worth spending on a new one.

Guys thanks for the inputs.he was using a DDR 1 board with the p4 I convinced him to scrap it totally and take ASus m4a78lt-mle and amd athlon x2 250.the total cost was 5300 rs.

^^ yeah mate he just needed for normal home use and for Microsoft office.also the ASus motherboard gives very smooth full hd play back.
