no idea where the service center is but its better to wait and do a rma than get a new hdd

and stick to seagate.. dont really care for the drives but no one else can match their service network

well bottle problem is i never cheked that but the seal of 'no warranty if broken' is broken frm its side...so i m doubtin whether they will accept it or not(i hav very bad hardware luk)....also if they do take it.........they wont giv new disc instatntly.............samsung took 10 days to giv me replacment...............also if i get replacement ill sell that 120gb one

Ah, Another 120 bites the dust !

If going for a new drive - my vote would be for one of the Hitachi T7K series drives. I've heard only good things about them :). Though do not unnecessarily buy a new drive, wait patiently for your existing one to return from RMA unless you need the extra space.

I just got my Seagate 120gig replaced with a 160 gig (seems to be standard policy to replace the 120GB with 160GB). But honestly speaking, I have lost my trust in Seagate as of now. While the 5yr warranty backup and the Seagate service network is good, you should not have to need Service if the Drive is good/reliable. Furthermore, it took me close to 2 weeks to get a replacement drive here in Chennai ! :@ (This has only been in my case, i've heard others having better luck and getting the drive replace in a day or so)

What would be a good idea though, would be to pick up another 120gig Seagate and send it in for RMA to get a free 160gig in return hehe :ohyeah: (Just kidding, I do not recommend doing something like that cause the drives they return are recertified/refurbished drives and could at times pose more problems than the original drive)

EDIT: Those Accel ICIM idiots handle servicing this side too - they deal with a number of products like Seagate, Sony-Ericsson, Benq and i'm sorry to say i've experienced their service with the other brands and its been pathetic :P

really ? so far my experience with them has been quite positive.. 2 seagates rma'd in days time and my k750 had a board change under warranty in 3 days time.. didnt even need a bill

[OT] ^ I guess its just bad luck/bad timing for me :(

Kept saying they were out of stock on replacement drives, finally picked mine up only yesterday

As for Sony Ericsson, they just said they could not repair it and came up with some excuse about water being on the PCB (showed a tiny white speck saying it was water residue :P)

Funny part was both incidents were consecutive[/OT]

I burnt my 120gig seagate sata, the service centre rejected my drive saying that burnt hard disks are not covered under warranty. :(

They did that for me as well, they said one phone wasnt repairable as it had "water damage". Anyway it wasnt my phone, it was my sis :bleh:

burnt????how

Wanted to raise the height of the hdd, could not find any books so i took a metal box lying nearby connected the hdd, switched on the system and boom.

Ic's got burnt n there was a lot of smoke, it was pretty scary.

Moral of the story - Dont keep ur hdd on a metal box. :hap5:
