hi,

one of my friend got today a Jetway 690G Chipset mobo (M2A692-VDP) with AMD 64 X2 4600+ and i was going to setup it. just when everything was placed on i found one 8pin 12V ATX connector on mobo besides the CPU but the 450watt SMPS doesn't have any 8pin ATX rather its only 4pin ATX 12V.

Motherboard End ................ SMPS End

So my questions are now is it ok to connect that 4pin ATX 12V on 8pin or it will be a problem in future or it will not even start the pc at all.

or i miss something jumper settings or like that

plz suggest

Yes, the 4 pin will fit only one way, to the extreme left if I recall.

And yes, it should not be a problem to boot it up using the 4 pin instead of the 8 pin.

thanks Deepak & geek ashish.... u help me get off worried from tension regarding this... thanks a lots...:hap2:

but still i am confused why they include 8pin instead of 4pin when the later do fine...

^^ IIRC they did that to provide more juice to the PCIE slots using more powerful SMPS. We wont want to waste the power of those SMPS now would we :)

Not an issue, especially with a 4600+. :)
But psu better be decent/good quality one.
Shripad sir was using an iball 400 psu and had OCed the 3600+ and all was ok but it died later with a bang iirc.

Old stuff, check this link. :cool2:
