I am totally in agreement with BIKeINSTEIN ... privacy is one hell of issue online.

@BIKeINSTEIN : Why don't you create poll for this thread ... it will be easier to see how many are in agreement.

Imho, even showoff section should be private again, as it used to be with GT and E&M. :)

Plz don't say anyone, many are giving you SOLID opinions as i did which really makes sense rather than yours which you just simply wants to get being implement here even after having so many alternatives for that purpose.

Just indicates you too didn't read other posts or fail to comprehend what you read. :)

People are just giving options that won't cover the exact requirements- there exists no alternative yet.

What SOLID opinion/reasons do you have to offer on why E&M section should stay public and not be made private again as it used to be earlier? :)
 
Biky, frankly speaking but it feels little psychic about making this n dat private affair..since social networking websites have started I think being on internet is enough invade on privacy. :P

But yes if you feel that your girlfriend may read that you are ditching her just coz of TE meet then ye its a TROUBLE dude :rofl

Though +1 , I'll go with it.. I don't want bots n guests to read what we talkin, planning..eh

I thought you were asking to make threads on TE personal for the ppl who attend them only.

The recent medpal meet is uploaded as hidden on imgX but posting the thumbnails in a public section does no good.

Likewise for the AT reader meet pics- uploaded as private on Flickr but posted in a public section.

End effect- they are public.

While some meets like the AT meet or some event covered by TEites may be made public.

So an option will be best while the default will be private.

But if providing user option is too complex, i am hoping that returning to totally private as earlier shouldn't be difficult. :ashamed:

I just hope the mods/admins understand too.

I may pose naked for TE members if need be - (yuck!!) - but it has to be private imho.

People need to be registered here to disgust themselves. :rofl:
 
I don't really care either way but a consensus could be to have the kind of bbcode (or whatever :D) that hides text/links/images to unregistered users like in many forums which upload ahem stuff. I feel there is no harm in implementing that if some members feel the need to use it ocassionally.

I still stand by what I said because Meets section does not contain anything useful for a non-te member(Guest visitors). its only contains few pics of TE members and bunch of writ comments.

Its not something in which most TE visitors would be interested it in. Additionally, TE should respect privacy of its members, don't be evil like Facebook and make everything Public:no:

Its my humble Opinion, I don't know how many of you agree with me;)
 
Didn't post earlier, as this could be bit of touchy subject... either side you stand on, BUT I have to say that I agree on the privacy part. I don't mind if the whole meet section goes private, why should general population be interested in TE meets? I mean, it not like these some kind of serious meets like seminars. Most of our meets are member meets, where we sit, talk about things both techie and non-techie, hog like hungry pigs, take a eyeful of greenery around and occasionally take a sip (or chugs) of nice "blue curacao" :P.

So I hope that necessary privacy measures are implemented on meet threads. If it's too much work to implement per-thread option, lets just make the whole meet section "members-only".
