URGENT: WD 1.5TB EARS issue in Windows 7

Guys, I am facing a serious issue

I gave a friend my brand new 1.5TB drive who used it in xp by putting the jumper in the drive (compatibility mode)

Now, He has given the hard drive back to me with the jumper intact and have asked me not to remove the jumper....

The issue is: When I connect my Hard drive (internally) to windows 7 OS. The drive is detected but when I click on the ICON there is a very long access time and which ends with a windows error sayong "Unable to access the drive. i/O error".

Pls help guys...lots of iportant data in the drive

You cannot use the hard drive with Jumper on in Win 7... Its already written on the HDD itself.. That's why its recommended not to use Jumper at all but the WD Align utility instead which ensures compatibility across operating systems...

If your friend had used XP to create partitions then ask him to realign... after removing data first & removing the jumper...
