I had sent my PC to the RMA center because it wasn't starting up and the reason turned out to be that the power and the reset button had both gone bad.So my only choice to start the pc is my shorting the 2 power pins on the motherboard. But when I try doing so, nothing happens. The people at the RMA center could start it up doing the same thing, but I can't do it at home.I'm pretty sure I'm shorting the correct pins. The funny thing is, I try the same thing on my old PC and it starts up just fine.Any ideas on what could be the reason?

^If you are shorting the right pins, it shouldn't be a problem with the object nor the header. Are all 4 pin and 24 pin power connectors connected properly? What power supply are you using - cannot see that in the signature.

The power supply is fine.As I mentioned, the people at the RMA center could start it up, they even showed my PC running on their monitor. Its just that I can't start it up at home.

^Oh I presumed you would have just taken the motherboard, processor and RAM to the service centre.

Tried a different electric socket? Are you using a surge protector or a UPS? Try plugging the system directly to the power outlet. Could it be that the power cable is bad?

Could you hear the single beep from the speaker? i.e if you have connected one.

VGA/DVI cable connected properly? LCD switched on? 6pin PEG from the power supply connected properly?

*running short of troubleshooting options* :P

Yeah, everything is connected. Its just ridiculous that my old PC short starts just fine, but my main PC doesn't.
