Hello ppl! I'm looking at a USB soundcard (2 channels shall suffice, multichannel unnecessary) for my laptop to connect to my mx5021. This is purely for music and no gaming. So no creative please. Budget around 100$. These are my current picks:

M-Audio Transit: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit-main.html
M-Audio Sonica Theater: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/SonicaTheater-main.html
Audiotrak Optoplay: http://www.audiotrak.net/optoplay.htm
ESI Waveterminal U24: http://www.esi-pro.com/viewProduct.php?pid=10&page=2

Out of these, I'm leaning towards the transit as it is cheap and doesnt require an external power source. Comments are welcome. Yes Amol and Zhopudey I mean you :P

Avoid ESI cards. Sonica theater and Transit are good. Optoplay is the best. Someone on an audio forum removed all the capacitors on the the PCB and said it sounded better than the Echo Mia MIDI card. That little bugger sure is promising.

Philips also has Aurilium. Works well with even 5.1. But is limited to a 16 bit playback.

Get optoplay. You wont be sorry.

the best would be the one that comes with steelpad's headphones....a 7.1 USB sound card...with damn good headphones...it comes for arnd 140 $ i think..

So its optoplay then! Saves me money as well :P

@ice: I need only a sound card, not headphones.

I know u said no creative but well I am not gonna say A2 NX is basically a POS...I've used it...

The older 5.1 extigy (even though its bulky) is much better as its powered sepereately...

I felt the sound was really good...and music seemed to sound better....
