are there any good economical usb speakers for laptops ?? since my laptop speakers do not sound that much ,

i do not require that much portability but sound must be very loud and good ..

the ones under 500 are good or just useless ??

If you are willing to spend 1k, you can buy XMini speakers which are the best among all portable speakers.
Its really loud. But if you are looking for booming bass, you will be a bit disappointed.

Otherwise its great.

please do not buy cheap USB powered speakers if you need a non portable setup.creative sbs inspire series has very good quality economical speakers starting from 1100-1200 bucks for 2.1 setup.IF you want to enjoy music and movies on your laptop/pc this is the best investment you can make. speaking from experience.I have had mine for 4 years and it has put new life in my gadgets in these 4 years- cd player(retired now),mp3 players,pc,laptop, netbook.invest once wisely and you won't regret it.

That is the best option no doubt but if you are away from a power source, how will you run the speakers?

With the proliferation of Netbooks, many can carry it in their backpack and because of its long battery life, can run for a long time as well. Now what if you want to hear good quality sound while away from a power source. Its not as if a power socket is available everywhere.

Now hows the X-mini is it a VFM ?

I have listened to it and really liked it. If you ask me, the sound is awesome. But it depends on people's tastes. Someone else may not like it too. So try to have a demo at a friend's place or shop before you buy.

But you will not regret buying it, I am sure.

They are much more portable than the BXR1220 that raksrules suggested

There's F&D V620 Portable Speakers. I have it. Its pretty decent for what its worth. Not sure if you get these around here now.

Which one did you order?
Have you received it yet?
Did you like the quality? (asking this since different people have different tastes. What someone loves, another may think of it as trash)

^actually i bought it for a friend. I like it, but for some he didnt like it. So i have put it for sale here in the audio section. Its x-mini 1.1 check out the market section
