Security Software USB, Timezone, boot infected!

Doremon

Level D
Using P4, 120gb, 512mb SATA ram.

USB - 2 fronts & 2 back- all port infected. Sansa+ could not read out. This is since 2 months back, so careless I am.

Since last 4 days, an error message appeared while opening web (including trusted site like FB, Google also!). Message is : "Your timezone of computer is not modified".

PC Time (right side tool bar) is not getting updated automatically and it hampers in opening sites, I assume.

The booting time of PC is also prolonged. After switching on, PC background immediately appears but other Icons takes 35-45 seconds to appear on desktop. Yes, I keep broadband off while this booting process.

Pl pour in your suggestions. Thanks.

^^ I think you CMOS battery has drained, if this is the case then you'll have to go to your local PC guy and get it replaced OR you can buy a spare battery of the same rating and replace it yourself at home.

Symptoms of CMOS battery drainage --

-- your date, time keeps reverting to 01 / 01 / 2000.

-- consequential the websites cannot open due to faulty time of your PC and lack of security certifications et al.

What do you mean by this #Doremon?

U hit the ball dear. Yeap! when booting a message run in ms-dos mode. Not remembering now exactly but it relates with CMOS battery and after 3-4 times pressing any key the boot process starts. But, I recently changed motherboard -intel- 2 months back from local guys. is it the case of poor workmanship or something else? Timezone error and resetting occurs due to this battery issue? Whats cost of CMOS? which brand I should opt? sorry.....so many questions here.....

USB port (all 4) can't read my Sansa+ ipod player from 2 months now. Initially, I can exchange audio files on the same.

No particular brands to look out for, but if you can pop the lid of your cabinet on your own and fish out the battery in question and take it to the PC store on your own, the dealer will give you a replacement ~70/- [can be lower]. Maxell is a good company for button sells, try to get these --> http://biz.maxell.com/products/industrial/battery/hcr/index.html.

Hope that solves your time issues.

About your USB ports, are there any signs of rust, corrosion on them inquiring as you live in Jamnagar, I remember when I was there [~2000 -- 2002] it had a hot climate and being near sea means brackish [saline] rainfall can affect your exposed electrical components.

P.S. -- In those days I did not have a PC.

Nice to know u r Ex-Jammy! Yeap the atmosphere is damn humid here but need to check USB & come back to you. Today, one technician coming with Maxell Hitachi CMOS. thanks. I assume it would be around Rs.100 cost then..

CMOS replaced and time issues resolved now. thanks.

Though PC boot process gets more slow & ICON appearing on desk takes almost 1 minutes!

USB - not works at all. After inserting flash drive/ipod, PC gets hanged. Is it because of Quickheal AV Firewall : Local hose is keep on activated by me.! or anything else!
