Never actually tried it..but has anyone successfully used a airtel account from other computer ? ..

i mean..M & my friend want to share internet connection.he will not be in bangalore for few months..so thought use it myself..(*daytime restriction for me .. ) so...was wondering before i talk to him..!..possible?

Do the airtel have differnt authentication systems at various regions ? .. :ashamed:

Yes it does, but it seems they use kinda an Inheritance based system

For eg : I live in Pitampura and can access my friend in Shalimar Baghs account without any problem.

A friend in Punjabi Bagh can access my account but I cant access his. So kinda like Punjabi Bagh server is a father server and my areas a child server.

In any case I doubt it'll work with out of state/city accounts.

Umm, you are using Airtel telephone lines rite? and these have DSL enabled na, cause if u opt for a PHONE only connection they dont enable DSL

Err, airtel doesnt have static IP's, not unless you buy em specifically..

Probable reason seems that you 2 are in different server zones.

Oh and one of you disconnects na while the other is trying to connect from that logon?

err...what has port binding to do with static IP address :P

Anyway @SS, its portbinded, thats why no luck I guess....may be thats why what we tired yesterday also didn't work :P

i used to use my Institutes 512 Kbps in my home at nights. :ashamed:.. grr... but wen i changed my plan to home 780 from 699 they tagged the line.. and now... No more fun.. :(

i was under the impression that the tel# the line was given in was somehow bound to the DSL PPoE login. The username you use has your tel# in it, a trivial comparison on the back end of the tel# in the login and the tel# of the line it orginated from would keep everyone honest.

But your experience tells me otherwise.

Yep, atleast for the old lines (me and my friends) no binding is in place rite now.

As long as the servers have the login data that I am using, I can logon without any problems
