I am in the market for a ultra low cost computer which i can take with me for an upcoming trip. I was considering low-end tablets for a while, but i figured a second hand note/net book would be a better option. I do not intend to use it for anything more than browsing, downloading stuff and watching sd videos.
So if I have a budget of 5kish, how old a laptop would I get in that budget? My expectation is a single core (dual core would be ideal) from intel dual core era, ~2GB ram, and ~60GB hdd, screen size is also immaterial. battery life is not a concern (will be running it off a wall socket) I will be installing arch or some other light linux as OS.
What do you guys think, are the specs and budget compatible?
I wanted to make a PI based system, but it seems as though it will not be delivered before I leave..
