Okay, I'll admit this idea is not original but taken from an Auto magazine I read sometime back.

At present there is a Show-Off section present and there is a Reviews section present. This enables users to see and decide what new products are available in the market. For e.g. the gfx reviews from Shripad give an insight into the latest cards. But, what happens after the product is bought?

There are ASS issues, product defects and many other issues that may arise and will only come to the notice of prospective buyers if they constantly read the threads and keep themselves updated. But many a times it happens that a person is not able to update himself due to his busy schedule (or whatever the reason may be) and ends up buying the product which has some glaring issue. There are hundreds of examples where this has happened.

To avoid this, I propose a Used Reviews section in which only a select group of people except mods( like SidhuPunjab for e.g ) can create threads (anyone can post and discuss) around 15 days- 3 months after purchasing the product. Since there are many members who upgrade on a regular basis, it won't be a problem for them to write a few sentences. This way, there is a central place to check for any issues. What I imply is the normal experience with the product that the buyer has had. If we don't want restrictions on who can create threads, another idea is that maybe the threads created here are first reviewed by a mod before approval and display.

Now, there may be some changes regarding the frequency of updates and the people who can create new threads etc but it would be great to have the general theme implemented in some manner.

This would also be unique to TE and will prevent the need to search for threads and posts again and again. Even new members will benefit greatly from this and there will be fewer threads where newbies don't get replies.

Hope this is helpful :D

Umm, something like that. A log for each product would be quite time consuming. Okay, I'll give you the e.g. of the auto magazine I got the idea from -

There is one page every month dedicated to the cars and bikes currently with them for testing purposes. It has general things like issues that arose (if any), any parts that needed replacement, any body defects etc.

In our case, I guess people can post only if they feel that something is significant to be posted. For e.g. if a new graphic card is released that has an apparent heating problem or so.. Or a monitor which has a weak stand etc.. you know the things which are apparent only after a certain period of use.

Would just be easier to keep track of any problems that arise that's all.

Yeah, so wouldnt a thread for that product suffice ? I think there are already a few threads like the i7 thread where people post updates and issues about a product. It can be taken further to specific brands where people post bugs and bug fixes.

something like our GTA4 thread , is that what you had in mind ? If so I think anyone can just go ahead and create a thread and others chip in

I dont think this is required. Since most reviewers etc usually post long term updates especially if we face any issues with product/build quality etc. + ppl always enquire if they want an explicit update. So a separate section isnt required since the current one suffices.

Hmmm, I guess a separate section isn't needed that much.

PS: Just liked the idea for a section specifically dedicated to this. :)
