PC Peripherals using the blue ide for DVDs

If i am not wrong i think the blue coloured cables for ide are called 80 pin ide. If i use them instead of normal ide cable will there be any performance improvement for the DVD Writer?
 
i am not sure if blue necessarily and exclusively means 80 pin as I use a normal off-white 80 pin IDE cable....but yes, using the 80 pin cable will enable UDMA-5 instead of UDMA 2 leading to faster data access rates.....

(BTW 40 of those 80 pins are redundant and grounded .....what they do however is prevent interference between adjacent wires....)
