Using the net just got expensive!!

After the increase in the prices of petrol, diesel, electricity , vegetables ,pizza's and a whole lot of other things even the net connection has made dearer by Tata Indicom Broadband.

The Quick Power 180 which was costing Rs 1922/- is no longer shown on the site instead we have Quick Power 150 for Rs 3363/-!! now this is a massive increase in tariff.

The unlimited plans havent had a tariff change in Mumbai but there seems to be a differential tariff for different cities.
eg : Nasik has 3 months of the 384 kbps plan for Rs 3202/- whereas in Mumbai we get the 3 months of 256kbps for the same amount, with 3 months of 384kbps being for Rs 3390/-
Similarly 512kbps is cheaper in Nasik than in Mumbai!! Rs 4804/- vs Rs 5933/- for 3 months  :ashamed:
I dont know what has prompted the "good" people at Tata Indicom to do this.... :p :p

As now the Quick Power 180/360/720 are still available under the renewal option for me,dont know if they are going to stay that way for old users....i hope so!!

Edit : Could this be due the lack on competition?? I mean BSNL has just reduced tariff's all over India for 256kbps plans and has introduced 512kbps plans at reasonable rates while MTNL Mumbai has been sleeping all this while, they dont have an unlimited plan as of yet!! And there is no other ISP which has a pan-Mumbai presence....

can see those older plans here too, i hope it stays that way

holy crap.. good thing the old plans are still showing up for me too.. just in time for my renewal, and decided to just get the Quickpower 720 just in case (i usually get the quickpower 360 plan each mth)..

seriously, the "new" rates look ridiculously expensive.. they better be a typo in price, or meant for a higher speed plan above 2mbps..

just checked the tata site..

Broadband Plans

well.....just using the PC also got expensive , how is that everyone is ignoring that >>>???? just last evening got letter from Reliance >

Dear Customer ( yea right ) ,...

Blah blah blah....

25paise per unit for residencial....

1rs. per unit for commericial.....

 where is this inflation headed

just reading this thread , I visited Tata indicom page , I am with them & using postpaid 256 infinity .
for my city - Baroda ( Gujarat ) new rates for Unlimited postpaid connections as below

Infinity 256 kbps > Rs . 750 / month

Infinity 384 kbps > Rs. 1000/month

Infinity 512 kbps > Rs.1500/month

Infinity 1 mbps > Rs. 2500/month
all price not including tax.

I was paying 1000 Rs/month for 256 , now it's @ 750 .

and if some 1 remember , 1 mbps was costing earlier around 3600 Rs/month :p

Actually, It looks more likely that TATA wants people to convert from prepaid customers to post paid customers. :(

Eh.... WTF is this ???

Instead of decreasing the price, they are increasing it !
I m puzzled, shall i recharge now with a 360/720 or shall i wait n see ?
Can someone get to their CC n confirm (All though they are hardly reliable) i cant do it as i'm not in the city.

Actually for Pune they have increased the Bandwidth and didn't reduce the rates. They removed all the old less speed plans tho. Bad for ppl who only need to surf the net and casual stuff.
