Using two different BB connections using single cable

here's the scenario.

I have two pcs (A and B).
both have onboard LAN.
A also has an extra lan card, which I use to connect to B (Crossover).
I had one broadband connection (Sify).
Recently I got another one from TataIndicom (for official purpose).

Now I want to use both the broadband connections. I know its not possible (read it in some forums) to use it from one single PC using only one cable to the ISP, but what i want to know is, whether I can use both the connections using two PCs and a simple network between them. What I'm saying is , have A connect to the ISP for Sify. Have B connect to A and configure it in such a way that it can share stuff on A, use tata connection and at the same time use Sify connection. its ok it the third option is not possible.
Is this possible.

BTW, tata service is really good. the connection (128kbps) was made in about 3 days. and the most important, speeds are good. (better than Sify 256kbps)

right now, I've to physically change switch the cable from one LAN card (onboard: configured to Sify) to the other (PCI:configured to Tata) to use either of the two BB connections. cant use them both simultaneously.
 
I am got confused a bit after reading your post but I understood that u want to use 2 net connection and still want the lan for transferring files from a to b. You can do it. Connect Sify to A, TATA to B. use 2 more lan cards to connect to A and B(CROSSOVER).
 
Put another NIC in the PC that already has two NICs. Connect the indicom connection to that. Bridge the sify and indicom connections together and enable internect connection sharing. Simple as that.

In general you would need to do your load balancing at the gateway/router level and not at the individual PC level. The reason is that standard TCP/IP protocol specs dictate that your operating system only use one gateway to route your traffic at a time based upon the last best known route to the destination.

Because of that your system will not send packets out *both* NIC's to a single destination (at least not if its conforming to standards). However if the gateway/router is intelligent enough to do the load balancing then your computer (and others on the LAN) can work as normal, stay in compliance, etc, while the gateway/router is doing the real work.

You can use either a hardware or software based solution for providing that intelligence. A hardware solution must reside at the router/gateway level but a software solution could exist almost anywhere. Sygate Office Network would be an example of a software solution, but there are lots of others.

Regardless, no solutions that I know of within range of consumers do true multiplexing of the data to increase overall speed. Instead you increase the overall bandwidth available to the network. This is extremely beneficial to businesses and other multi-user environments, but doesn't do much for the individual home user environment as most load balancing solutions use an algorithym that would not benefit a single user doing a ton of usenet downloads for example....even though there are lots of small files being downloaded, and you would think therefore you would utilize both wan connections fully, the truth is that most algorithyms would look at the source headers of the data packets..see that it is from the same source...and still limit you to using only one connection. This is done because the algorithym itself is geared to optimize the internet experience for multiple users..not a single user. So instead of completely swamping both wan connections it would let you have as much as you could get from one while reserving the other for the next source packet. This is not always the case, but most products within the reach of the average consumer that do load balancing do it this way.

:) Yes I wrote it in a hurry. But the thing is ... I have only one cable so cant connect as you mentioned.

Do you mean to configure one lan card to tata, another to sify, bridge them both and use that single cable (connected to any one of the cards) and use both simultaneously. ummm. As Kumar has mentioned above...

Can I use a router here? uplink will be that single cable to ISP. connect to cable from both of my cards to this router. a third card to connect to PC B. Possible? :S
 
Follow what Chaos said, Firstly install the network cards, get the individual cables in both the lan cards. Name the lan cards according to the connection. And make sure both the connections work. First setup the Sify and then the Tata, for the simple reason tata doesnt have any login stuff. So if the sify works fine, even the tata should work. next right click on one of these connections and select the bridge connection option. I guess it would create a new connection logo in the Network connections to show the bridged connection. Now plug in the third lan card. Get the cross over cable connected. Right click the bridged connection> Properties>Sharing and share it on the third connection. I guess here it makes use of the default 192.168.0.1 ips and you cant change it ( atleast while sharing in dialup) so the local network of the two pcs wod be on those ips. and if it works then fine, else leave the idea if you dont wanna take too much pain. Sometimes configuring such things can be a PIA
 
hey people

i got mtnl triband night plan on one line..

and plaanning to take the 199 plan on the other line

now i wanna know. is can i still merge the two lines together. as an when i want. cause... as the 199 plan has a 400mb limit i wouldnt really download much...

but i wanna know if i can merge them together and demerge them on the fly?
