Utorent and my os

hi,
my system is runing fine. but as soon as i install utorrent or any other torrent downloader program. after 5 minutes of its runing my system freezes down. i can't do anything but only restart my system manually.

specs are:
phenom 965 c3
790fx gd70
gtx 275
4gb 1666 gskill ram.
600 watt psu

windows 7 64 bit.

Now what things does utorrent touch, the first thing is your hard disk, download Process Explorer and check what all process are running under/alongwith it

Should help you in figuring it out, or take a memory dump of it and analyse it with Debugging Tools for Windows

Also possible that your hard disk might have Directory errors and/or bad sectors. Your torrent software ends up accessing your harddisks bad portions giving it a total freeze.

Run check disk utility and see if it fixes.

try Defrag your HDD. Azureus [If you do use it} uses Java and is heavy on the resources. Use only one downloader. best is utorrent.

Just an idea . Download any RAMDisk software , create a small RAM disk then try downloading a torrent there using utorrent . if it still freezes then it is definitely not an HDD problem .

Have you tried downloading from the internet directly or from Rapidshare, etc? If that works fine and you have problems with torrents only, then it could be a driver issue.

My old specs:
Intel P4 3GHz HT
Intel D101GGC
Win XP SP3

On this motherboard, I had installed all the drivers that came with the disk. There was a Realtek Lan/Ethernet driver too IIRC. My internet is via the local cable operator, which has no router, the cable is plugged directly to the motherboard's RJ-45 port.

I faced the same issue with torrents and limewire, no matter what the client. The system would freeze and nothing except a hard reset would have any impact on it (of course I didn't try to hammer it down in frustration). This problem was getting to my nerves for over a year.

So after blaming it on practically everything including viruses and HDD failure, RAM failure, etc, I finally uninstalled the LAN/Ethernet driver. The internet can be configured without the driver too. Since then this issue was resolved and never appeared again.
Sorry for the long post with unnecessary details, but felt like sharing my frustration with the driver. Hope this post is helpful.

i also feel the same

i am using a wifi card

and feel the problem is because of the driver.

and "ares'' has bittorrent client in it and it is runing smoothly.

and idm, dap etc evrything runs fine

but problem is only with utorrent

try going back to the old version and see if that works. Try Utorrent 1.7.7. Just run it without worrying for the loss of torrents started. hope it works.
