utorrent web ui control over wifi

hello all
i have been trying to connect to web ui from my laptop over my wifi using

http://192.168.0.1:8080/gui/

192.168.0.1 being my pc ip address. i am unable to do so as browser says connection timed out.

tried googling, i just saw that localy u should use localhost instead of ip address or use 127.0.0.1 , but none work for me.

what should be done?

I think u r trying to connect to ur system with a Dynamic IP. U need to setup a Dynamic DNS service as provided by no-ip or Dyn DNS to get a fixed link over ur dynamic IP in order to connect to ur system. I n such a case u'll have to connect to ur system typing www.<ur domain name>.<.sub domain name>.<net or com or whatever>:8080/gui
Tis will provide u sort of static link to ur machine thus accessible from anywhere all over the world, no matter if ur connection truncates and gets a new IP every time it does so. :cool2:

In your case, if I'm not wrong, u have laptop and the download machine both on same network. If that's the case then from TCP/IP properties of the LAN connection assign it following values:
DHCP Enabled: No
IPv4 IP Address: 192.168.1.x
IPv4 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
IPv4 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
IPv4 DNS Servers: 218.248.255.194, 218.248.255.146
NetBIOS over Tcpip Enabled: Yes
In place of x it can be any value less than 255.
If I'm wrong then supreme beings of this forum please correct me and enlighten us both.:)
BTW, ur rig, did u bought it from Pratik Rocky, another forum member or is it ur own? Just Curious. :cool2:

It's pretty simple..

make sure both your laptop and the other device are in the same workgroup (if it's a pc/lappy) then make sure they both have ip's in the same range ping to check if they are accepting network connections from each other then check by entering the address..

Oh and do add the device's Ip into the "Allowed Ip's" options in the webUI panel.. :)

using ur own network ip? like the 192.168.0.1?
Changin ur port number means that right now ur port number is 8080, The default port in uTorrent is generally 32459. Change ur port to something over 1024, like 1122 but make sure it has been forwarded. :hap2: :cool2:

thanx alll. now working over wifi!

as
http://192.168.0.2:port/gui/

i tried no-ip.

registered and created host named nfsfantorrent
downloaded the no-ip uc and configured with my email id and password.

when i try this
http://nfsfantorrent.no-ip.org:port/gui/

i get the message :
Code:
Failed to Connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at nfsfantorrent.no-ip.org:port.
  [url]http://nfsfantorrent.no-ip.org:port/gui/[/url]

Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.

replacing port with the port i have forwarded, which is working over wifi.
Any suggestions?

i'd tried no-ip too...but somehow it hadnt worked for me..
so i tries dyndns and it works, i think thats because my router has an inbuilt feature to report to dyndns..
you can check your router too..if it supports dyndns directly...

Please explain the process to me too. I'm also trying to access my uTorrent's WebUI, over the Internet. Its accessible and working fine over the LAN but need a solution for Internet so that I can keep a tab on my downloads even from my college. :ohyeah: I've the no-ip account and domain but it isn't working for me either so tell me the DynDNS's method as my router too supports it natively. :cool2:
