Hi Guys

VACUUM CLEANER NEEDED - For Home Use (with Blower also)

Which is a good brand ?
Budget
: Rs 5K +/- if convinced
Usage : Once a month or so
Use For : Vacuum - Cleaning fans; Window rails; Window mesh; Computer; Ocassionally - cushioned furniture & sleeping mattress; etc. Not for any wet purposes. Blower - for all those unreachable areas.
RunTime : At least 15-20 mins at a time, with a few pauses & without getting heated up too much.

My old VC - Eureka Forbes Euroclean XL served me well (100 percent trouble-free) for over 13 years. Just 2 days ago it conked off - sparks + smoke + bigger sparks came out from the machine. I don't know whether I should get this repaired (by Eureka Forbes .... esp if it's gonna be expensive).

The new models (18 of them!!) of Eureka Forbes are prohibitively expensive - going upto 24K :scared14:

How is this model Black & Decker VH781 Vacuum Cleaner | Vacuum Cleaner | Flipkart.com | Black & Decker for 3900/-

Thanks

I suggest you don't look beyond Eureka Forbes for Vacuum Cleaners. I have their first model- Miety Vac (white and red model) and its performance is still strong with regular 2-3 times a month use.
Had I been in your position, I would have chosen the Euroclean Star model, or Forbes Trendy Steel model. Looks to be the perfect fit for your requirement. However if you are looking for more convenience in moving it around, over performance, then smaller models should be considered.

Well if you saw smoke, its mostly a blown capacitor, happened to my 20 year old eureka forbes vaccum cleaner.Just replace it ,infact i removed the capacitor on direction of the service guy of eureka forbes and made it a direct connection, the capacitor job was kind a prevent electricity to pass through a body of the vaccum cleaner, but since the vaccume cleaner housing is made of plastic its not going to conduct.

Todays eureka forbes have pathetic build quality including ones costing around 8k or so.Better to get some good quality ones from karcher .
Bosch for those who willing to spend more then 10k.

Will definately try to see if I can get my VC serviced again.

About their products today (Eureka Forbes) It is so confusing to sort through their 18 models .... why have so many and with very little difference between some models.

Karcher - never heard of this brand (along with so many others - Milagrow; Russel Hobbs; Softel on Flipkart or Snapdeal) - looks interesting though...... Will they still be around 10 years from now ?

Thanks Chiranjib (your inputs helped me a lot during the purchase of my LG Direct Drive Washing Machine a few weeks ago - It's working great). Now, I too have trusted Eureka Forbes for a long time........ However, seeing all the negative comments on Mouthshut today makes me hesitate to go forward. I do not really mind paying extra for a premium brand or fantastic product/technology. Perhaps, I should not rush into this matter in haste. The Euroclean Star model looks exactly like my old Euroclean XL (they probably just did some minor cosmetic changes) - it's priced within my budget.

Let's see if my old VC can be serviced first ..... and in the meantime will try to check out new products.

Let me tell you i bought the euroclean star model more then a year ago (then there was no bosch or karcher at that time). Its noisy, built like crap, gets heated fast. While it may appear to be the same as the old XL,its blatant cost cutting with flimsy build right down to every attachments ,i wouldn't pay 2k for it.Its my only time i bought a product before actually researching or seeing in flesh and i regret it.

Karcher is very well known german brand they only make cleaning equipment like pressure washers, carpet cleaners, vaccum cleaners etc and there is Bosch well this one has a car style filter, very easy to clean and built like a tank, the bosch can be had for around 12k..
