Laptops Vaio C or HP TX1000

Ok..I am totally utterly lost on this one...
For a brief background, My sis has been planning to pick a laptop..I decided to give her one as a surprise gift when I go home in the next few weeks...

Anyway, I ordered a Dell 14" for her (which arrives today) and realized later that she wants a pretty and stylish looking machine over anything else...the configuration and performance can go take a hike!
Yikes....

Anyway, the Dell 640m is up for sale and is almost about to go to Mohit (TE) by tomorrow or day after....

Which brings me to this...What do I pick for Sis?

She mentioned in passing that she is looking at the Vaio C (Pink)
Which is a C2D T5500 based 13.3." , 2.3 kg machine in Pink :O color

Now over the weekend, I saw another machien that is quite striking looking...
A Turion X2 (TL-52) based 12.1" , 1.9 kg tablet from HP called TX-1000

The price for both is nearly the same....

Now I can't ask Sis to tell me which one would she prefer...
Also, since this isn't really an objective choice, I am not sure how much you guys can help me over this dilemma....

Nevertheless, would be good if you guys could give me some pointers, or direct me towards some other choices too..

I don't know the machines' detailed specs but I'd say get her what she wants, whether or not it makes sense to you... she's going to be the one using it later. And while tablets are cool, there's not much use for them and I have seen one actually "snap" at the joint :P
 
I saw that turion X2 yesterday. It pretty awesome. It was about 61K in Pune without bargain. It is tablet kind and plays DVD without OS. Go for that, I would say.

But you never know your sis. Take her and let her decide, coz pink is pink afterall.
 
Czar, your sis needs that "pinky-girly-whateva" notebook..Just don't think twice, get her that..

The more you think or look around, the techie in you will take over and you'll subconsciously go for a performance-oriented machine (Again! :P)

Get the Vaio C and be done with it..Btw, the specs of that are good too! :)
 
^ No..no, specs wise, the Vaio C is easily better ...it's just that I think the HP looks more stylish

And no, can't ask her :(

I saw VGN 13 and it is actually quite smashing as a looker .... with those rounded edges nad VAIO etching it looks cool... (though I prefer the white colour...)

if there is any other laptop which I think is better in looks alone has to be the compaq B1900 series...... with a very small size, and the piano black finish, it is all rage .... comes at 51k (with taxes ) in BLR though the cnfig is nothin to shout about...

Ofcourse the Vaio C is spec-ed better than the HP option! Sheesh! Where was I lost!! :P

Anyway, I'd suggest you not try and decipher the female head coz you know you wont succeed..:D But even then if you'd like her opinion, without letting her know, then ask one of her frenz to find out which notebook she likes. Maybe that friend can ask about it as a suggestion on her (the friend's) purchase...You get the idea.. ;)

can't do dat...we live in different cities...though maybe i'll ask one of my friends to come along and help me decipher the mysteries of the female mind :P
 
I would suggest that since she already mentioned the Pink VAIO, go for the same. Girls pay more attention to the looks than the other important details (My sisters no exception either :P ). Also what looks cool to us may not told true for them. They may hate even similar looking model for subconscious reasons that they can/will not state :hap5: . So its best to stick to the model that you are sure your sis will cherish for certanity.

Anything else would be a speculative experiment. :rofl:
