Valve Announces $1 Million DOTA 2 Tournament

Not yet, this is the prize for the BETA tournament lulz. The game will launch in this calender year. No we know where all that money from Valve's TF2 hats went.

This is one of the most brilliant moves by Valve to promote their game pre-launch. Such a huge prize for the winner only (not prize pool for the top few teams) is unheard of and is equal to the highest prize ever paid out in a tournament (Equal to one Quake 3 match held at the great wall of china 4-6 years ago i believe between fatal1ty and vo0 if i'm not mistaken, where vo0 won $1mill for beating fatal1ty). All professional dota teams will switch instantly to dota2, and imo so will a few HoN and LoL teams too if prizes continue to be of this magnitude.

Nothing but good news for eSports.
