Venice Stepping : 0517 DPMW - Howz this for OC'ing ?

as the thread name says how this venice for OCing Stepping is 0517 DPMW .... got it from mumbai ..... still waiting for mine Mobo and graphics :( ... so no way testing this proccy .....
 
But Funky's and Darky's 0517 are EPAW. I don't know how a DPMW will perform. No way of knowing for sure until you get your mobo and oc it yourself... All the best....

But I think you are lucky... and that this proccy will do very well....

Is yours a 3000+ or a 3200+ ??

A 17th Week Venice is Rocking ne way.
but i dont know about how DPMW will perform.

Guys its a Request plz have the thread name with Venice Stepping info.
for eg in ur case it shud have been.
"How is this Venice - 0517 DPMW for overclocking"

0517 DPMW are very good.
By the way what board you are gona use with it?
IF you can get better cooling for it then i am sure you will get a nice overclock out of it.
I dont know about 3Ghz as it seems once you start getting past 2.7Ghz the thermal decipation becomes issue. I had a 10 min fluke past 3Ghz on air. Thats it. I had to back it down due to tremendous heat decipation by the CPU at those speeds. So you need a very good cooling for it.

By the way from where you got this CPU? AFAIK only Mnemonic had them in mumbai.
 
He got it from Mnemonic itself.... Blade had posted the address and phone number of that.....

And mods, I agree with Quaddy.... Please rename this thread as "Venice 0517 DPMW. It will be better.

@funky i am getting A8N SLI Premium ...... but after 2 month i think i willl get a DFi(Depends upon one of mine fren)
 
That looks like a great CPU for OC'ing ! If you can manage to get a XP-90 with some AS5 on it, then I am quite sure you will touch 3G's. All the best :D

Is matrix somewhere in mumbai, and funky tell me , is this proc... Better than urs EPAW .
 
nothing can be said about anything.
Whatever ocing info we get is user feedback. But ya *PAW steppigns are generally good and almost guaranteed good overclocker specially 0517 EPAW.

so funky if i go to my dealer to my, to buy this venice.., and with that steppings would he be able to supply me 1 or how could i check, are these written on the box itself???????

as far as i know matrix is in between lammy road and JJ hospital ...... they charged extra 500 for that stepping ...... :)

its a late reply but you can get LBBLE 0521APDW now which is a newer one.

Newer or older doesnt matter,which one is suitable for OC'ing is what matters,otherwise all cores are same.
 
Aha ! The world record overclock of a Venice 3000+ to ~3.5GHz is with a 0517 DPMW !

Someone that I know of chose to pick up the EPAW over the DPMW bcoz the EPAW supposedly seems to be a better oc-er on the average. Also, IIRC, this person Overcrash at XtremeSystems first had the DPMW and then appeared to have had better luck with the EPAW. Been a while since I followed the Venice oc-ing thread at XS, so check anyways. And quite sadly, Overcrash lost his board due to a condensation mishap.

So Get Cranking with your DPMW ;) !
