guys...
i am buying Venice's 3000+ along with Asus K8N-E.
finally i got customer for my age old p42.4c & 865GBF together so i cancelled getting p4800 delux so i am returning it back to shop this saturday and getting Asus one. i am getting Sapphire Radeon X800GTO2 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 at 12k. what u think is it good deal and what about moding this card??

small help i need is i want to overclock the proc as max as possible but it should be stable so what u recommend me Asus or DFI.

1. which mobo - DFI / ASUS ?
2. proc code - i dont remember w17 something for best OC ?

help guys...

The problem is that all the good OC'ing steppings are running outta stock. Delta at Chennai is getting a lot of 40 CPU's. Keeping my fingers croosed for a Week 21, 23 or 31.

You can't identify by seeing the box, but you can see the Processor from the box itself without opening it, in that way you can identify the steppings.

P.S. See my previous post on how to identify the steppings.

thx mate and about DFI which model is best for overclock as i dont want record overclock and SLI.

i am looking for decent overclocking with stability also.
so what u think i should go for DFI or Asus ???

which memory - but it should be VFM??

For decent overclock + stability, go for Asus. also, be honest with yourself and see whether you are a newbie to oc'ing or are you an expert?? If you are a newbie, go for an Asus.

And abt memory, go for Corsair XMS in India. If you are getting it from JApan, try getting OCZ or Geil or something like that.

Best thing is to get 2 x 1 GB Crucial Ballistix.

And the Sapphire GTO2 for 12K is good.!!! Go for that. It could be modded into an X850 XT PE.

The first line imprinted on the proccy in the 3000+ would be ADA3000AA4BP. The next line is the stepping, which would be LBBLE 0521 APCW - where 05 is the year 2005, 21 is the Week of Manufacture and APCW is the batch. If its a Week 17, 23 or 31, replace the 21 with these weeks. As for the batch its different for every stepping so u can't be sure. If u can get hold of 0531 BPBW, get it.

As for the memory, go for the TwinMOS with Mtec chips on them. The model No. of the RAM should end with CADT. Check Rahul's review in the Review Section for more info on the RAM.

i am not an expert but will be doing AMD overclocking first time..

so do you mean that week 31 is better than week17 ?
and what is E3 Setepping ???

Its not that week31 is better than Week 17, but its difficult to find one. If you find a stepping freaky told above take it and come.

P.S. I bought a week 0523EPAW venice thinking it'll do atleast 2.2Ghz, but man now it doing 2.5Ghz@1.4125V:D

E3 and E6 are the 2 revisions of Venice. E6 is the latest and I think it comes with a better memory controller. Not sure abt other features added to the E6 though.

That is called burning in. Proccies, RAM all oc better after some time of being used.

Hey avi - one request seriously

If u r overclocking for the first time get an ASUS Motherboard.
The DFI is not for the starters , u will go crazy looking at the options in the BIOS.

But most of the 3000+ will oc to 2.4Ghz on Air

thx mate for advice,

but does asus allows playing with memory / voltage as well..

i just know about FSB and frequency of proc or GFX card.
never played with memory settings or voltage settings......

so would like to explore that area and anyway i can call Darky at my home for this OC.
still you would advice me get Asus.
plz tell me best mobo of DFI..
avi

If u wanna go for DFI, get the Lanparty UT Ultra-D which is superbly priced at 8.7K + 4.2% Tax. ASUS A8N-E also allows u to play with Memory Timings as well as volts though the vDimm is limited to 3.0v and vCore is limited to 1.55v.

Asus also has also the important adjustments. Only thing is DFI has much much more options. Not recommended for you.

GO for Asus. They are also superb oc'ers
