Re: Very bad experience with SMC
As for NP, definitely it's one of the rudest market I've ever come across. Just a couple of weeks back, I was there with my friend whose Asus netbook (1201N IIRC) was shutting down after using for half an hour or so. I thought it could be an overheating problem and we went to one of the repair shops on the ground floor. It was nearly 7 pm and the guy replied that they are about to close and we have to leave the netbook with him. My friend wasn't comfortable with that and we left searching for other shops. Incidently we saw a shop advertising itself as Dr. Laptop (1st floor) and we decided to give it a spin.
The moment we showed him the netbook, the guy blaberred "Is laptop model main bahut defects hai." So I asked him "Laptop dekhte hi pehchaan liya. Kaunsa model number hai bataega." And the guy was like "Arre Engadget pe dekhna jaake. Kaafi defective model hai." Couldn't come up with the model no. Anyways, he said that the engineer will have to open it up and then only can they pinpoint the problem. So we handed over the netbook to the guy and specifically stated that there should be NO scratches on the body whatsoever (the netbook was in excellent condition with a Pulp Fiction sticker). We kept on waiting for 15-20 mins when the guy came and said that it is probably an overheating issue due to dust accumulation inside and they are cleaning it (they didn't ask us whether they should clean the insides or not, they just started doing it themselves). On asking the cleaning charges, the guy said 600 bucks. We tried bargaining as that seemed to be quite a lot just for cleaning the innards, to which the guy started explaining how "genuine" he is and he does repairs worth lakhs every month for Amity etc. Finally, when the netbook arrived, it had a huge scratch on one side. On confronting the guy about it, he simply replied "Impossible ! Hamare yahan aisa ho hi nahin sakta." We argued that since he wasn't using any kind of soft cushion while opening & closing the netbook (the table was a white sun-mica one), scratches were very much inevitable but the guy started shouting and making tall claims about his "genuiness". He started blaming us that this was all our plan to get the netbook repaired for free ! Finally after an hour of head-banging, we had to pay him the amount to get out of there.

mk76 said:Also you are projecting a wrong image of the entire episode. Are you aware what time did my friend reached NP? If not, 10:30 AM and he was carrying the bill with him. So you can imagine that he was virtually waiting for the shop to open to get the exchange done; and had everything in proper order.
As per mk76's post, his friend was carrying the bill.harryneopotter said:And they could have denied for the exchange (as it was well within their rights) but they still exchanged the board, even though your friend was not carrying the Bill (which is obviously needed). And he got that at the same price mentioned at the site, too. IMO it was not such a big deal as what it has become now.
