I have compared the Grado SR225 to the ATH M50. The Grados had significantly less bass impact compared to the M50s. However the Grados had significantly better treble and midrange response and even though the bass was less it wasn't exactly bass light.
The Grado SR80 I have heard long back but from memory they sounded like a less refined SR225.
So if you like deep punchy bass more than anything then choose the M50s.
If you like an airy, forward sound with tighter but less impactful bass then get the Grados.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the Grados have no seal whatsoever. The M50s are closed and provide a pretty good seal.
