VFM Upgrade for gaming!!!

Hmmm... So i have the following components already...

C2D 6400 @ 3.2GHz

ASUS P5B Dlx

GEIL 2 x 1GB DDR 800 5 5 5 15

X1900XT 512 MB

With the whole lot of gaming titles coming out in next few months(Days actually) whats the best possible upgrade from this... I will be gaming on a 17" Monitor @ 1280 x 1024 and would like to play at High if not on ultra settings...

Alanwake

GeOW

FEAR : PM

NFS PS

UT 3

Crysis

COD4

QW:ET

I want to upgrade in parts and don't wanna regret about the money spent in due course of time. What i am thinking is to upgrade the RAM to a 4GB. RAM is cheap now a days and should help in gaming. Maybe a GFX upgrade(8800GT) or can i delay it for another months to get the Nine series...

A CPU + Mobo upgrade will be waste of money... Or will it not be :P

frankly speaking. you need nothing switch.

all you need is a 8800gt. thats it. 4gb ram is not needed at all for any game atm. you cpu is very good. i am playing all the games on maxx settings on 2900pro with e6600 @ 3.5ghz @ 1680 x 1050 res. all games work perfectly smooth.

so dont waste your money. just get a 8800gt galaxy for 14500rs & enjoy.
 
Quite right stormy... But shouldn't i wait for a next generation card to play crysis in all its glory... I am quite sure my current card wont fetch me any good money and 8800GT will be outdated in 3 months :P
 
But how can i get it in India...

Also i have a 1 x 2GB Geil DDR 800 RAM Kit... What will i do with that...
 
leave the ram alone. 2GB enough for most cases on XP and even vista. I am on 4GB but I have more ram for other purpose and not for gaming. I havent noticed any gaming difference when i went from 2 to 4 GB.

That rig really does not need an upgrade for 1280x1024. Really....

x1900xt is still a great card.

If you want, you can go for the 8800GT for 14.5k or so.

That will allow you to play even crysis all high settings.

VFM 9xxx series cards are not due any time soon m8. It will be typical NV launch. High end 30k+ cards and after 2-4 months a value card and that too will be 20k+. Something in price range of 8800GT will not come soon enough.

who told you that u cant play crysis in all its glory.

i am currently playing crysis on 2900pro @ 1680 x 1050 @ max settings.
so 8800gt will also handle it @ 1280 x 1024.

I have heard crysis is capped at 20fps but still very playable. :S
(was it crysis or something else?? :ashamed: )

Switchy Sir- sit tight na. :P
(but if your palms still itch, just get the Galaxy 8800GT- that's it- period. :))
