Hi,

I am trying to upgrade a very old computer. It is an LGA 775 motherboard with a pentium 4. The processor and motherboard are fine for my usage, but I was wondering if I could add some RAM and a video card for light gaming ( very light)
and watching movies in HD

My troubles are as follows

1)It is an HP machine with a 200W power supply which is the lowest I have ever seen. Is it possible to run ANY video card without changing the power supply? If I change the power supply I'll have to effectively rebuild the whole machine.

2)Expansion slots do not have a PCIe-x16 slot. What i do have is a PCIe-x1 slot and two old PCI slots for expansion. Are there any good video cards for these slots?. Secondly is it possible at all to run a PCIx16 card on a PCIx1 slot (it sounds silly but the only thing different really would be the reduced bandwidth pipelines to the motherboard). The reason I ask is that the price/performance ratio is better for PCI-x16 cards.

3) Does adding a stick of 1gb ram add to the power drain on the PSU?

thanks,

any suggestions to my predicament would be welcome.

regards,
Abhi
